Big Ben Work Coat

On one of the first days of real spring in Copenhagen I went vintage shopping with a friend of mine. For a while he had been talking about the Wasteland shop and the lined denim jackets they have there. He chose this deadstock Big Ben Work Coat with an acrylic/polyester lining. A true workwear jacket. He’s a slim guy and the size 34 regular fitted him perfectly.
Big Ben and Red Kap (see below “Full 1 Year Warranty) are both part of the former Blue Bell Inc. now owned by VFC, the world’s largest clothing company.
Classic red workwear bartacks gives it the final touch.
Made in U.S.A.
Gripper buttons.

The blanket lining really looks cheap and maybe even like something you’d put in a dog’s basket, but that’s the charm of the authenticity of it all.

Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin has been the target of public wrath after announcing he would be renouncing his U.S. citizenship and moving to Singapore, a haven where capital gains aren’t taxed one bit. Will Facebook follow in his footsteps by funneling money through international subsidiaries to maneuver around the American tax code? The recently-gone-public social network could set up small satellite officies in countries with comparatively low tax rates, funneling income through foreign nations so money is never technically earned in the U.S

American Pie Reunion

The Child Entrepreneurs

Hi, I?m the new addition to the BANDIT team, THE girl. I?m not a accustomed blogger, so I?m going to do it my way. For my first blog I thought long and hard about what I wanted to open ?the show? with. Then I saw this video and it just came to me. I want to write about how the entrepreneur spirit has spread to all social layers and how early kids adapt the idea of ?making a business?.
This is Caine Monroy; he is 9 years old and has built an elaborate cardboard arcade inside his dad?s used auto parts store.

I know this film is very typical American. But I think it shows how a child can have a passion for making a business, that in most cases, may be bigger than an adult?s passion. Children don?t think about all the work it will take or all the finances. They go right for realising the idea. After I watched the film I went to the website, and there is, on behalf of Caine and his arcade, opened a scholarship fond for Caine to go to college.
In addition, the Goldhirsh Foundation is matching all donations to Caine?s scholarship fund to help build the Caine?s Arcade Foundation ? which will help find, foster, and fund creativity and entrepreneurship in young kids/children. At this moment there has been raised 198616,64 $, and Caine?s arcade has a shocking 112,362 likes on Facebook.

If you work your way around the website (go ahead give it a try), you can see that Caine and his helpers are going all the way out with the project. You can check out the opening hours, soon buy t-shirts and the arcade is even open for film festivals and special screenings. I love the idea of the flash mob to make the little boys day, give him a once in a Childs life experience, and by doing that making sure that the message is coming out ? and it did, because otherwise the Goldhirsh Foundation wouldn’t have responded.

But it is not only Caine that is ?making a business? at a young age, all over the world people are adapting and learning that it is never to early to move on with a good idea. Business mentor, business coach and CEO coach, Cameron Herold is on TED says: ?Bored in school, failing classes, at odds with peers: This child might be an entrepreneur?.
He presents the case for parenting and education that helps would-be entrepreneurs flourish both as kids and as adults. ?He wants parents and teachers to recognize, and foster, entrepreneurial talent in kids?.

In America there is a big focus on preparing and teaching children how to be entrepreneurs, what they do and how they contribute to the economy and society. According to a 2009 Gallup Organization survey of 26,000 people in 36 nations, the American schools are doing some good things, when it comes to entrepreneurship education. The data points to three things:
?	First, American schools are doing a good job of teaching kids what entrepreneurs do. 71 % of the Americans surveyed said that elementary and secondary schools helped them to learn how entrepreneurs contribute to our economy and society.
?	Second, American schools are helping to develop an entrepreneurial attitude, or ?sense of initiative.? 73 % of Americans said that their primary and secondary school education taught them a sense of initiative.
?	Third, American schools are piquing students interest in business ownership. Americans were twice as likely as Europeans to tell the surveyors that their K-12 education stimulated their interest in being in business for themselves

An example of another young entrepreneur is Leanna Archer.
Leanna is 15 years old and owns a company called Leanna?s Inc. The company sells hair products, on leannashair.com, which are free of sodium lauryl sulfate and parabens, and chemicals that are considered health risks. Leanna tells how she came up with the idea: ‘The idea came to me when I received tons of compliments about my hair and I knew it was thanks to my homemade products”. ”I had nothing to lose, because I figured that if it didn’t work out I still had my whole life ahead of me.”

In 2010 the company had revenues of more than $100,000. The Long Island entrepreneur expects that number to increase to more than $300,000 by year-end 2011. She is in the process of building an army of sales representatives across the United States. Her advice to small business owners: “All new entrepreneurs should know that mistakes are a big part of success.”
There are a lot of examples of child entrepreneurs, you can check out 18 kids to watch out for here and here.
I hope Denmark can keep up with America and focus more on teaching children in school about entrepreneurship and how they can realise their dreams. If Denmark does so, I think Denmark can be a strong competitor in the race of new great ideas.

Amir Khan, the Pakistani-origin British boxer expressed concerns over the demise of the sport in Pakistan, the country of his ancestors, vowing he will assist the local boxers prepare for the 2016 Olympic Games.
The legendary boxer is desperate to regain his WBA and IBF light-welterweight titles, after the much-anticipated rematch between him and Lamont Peterson was cancelled after the American failed a drug test.
He expressed his disappointment after Pakistani players failed to get even a single berth for the 2012 London Olympics. Similar was happed in Beijing Games back in 2008.
Speaking to the media he observed, ?It?s very disappointing that nobody qualified for the mega event. We have great talent in Pakistan but I think we need to invest in improved facilities and coaching?.
He added, ?Keeping that in mind, I?m available if Pakistan boxing needs any help. I offered my gym in Bolton to the Pakistan boxers ahead of their qualifiers too. This offer will always be open to them?.
The British boxer expressed hopes that Mohammad Waseem, currently number one Pakistani player, will earn name for the country. Waseem, the Quetta-based pugilist turned professional recently after being offered the chance by the AIBA Professional Boxing.
Amir Khan was of the opinion that Mohammad Waseem could be a good professional but he would have needed the right training. In his view, amateur boxing is completely different from professional boxing and he offered his complete support to the Quetta-based player.
He noted, ?I will probably visit Pakistan after Ramadan now. The main thing will be to meet my fans because they very rarely get to see me as I am so far away?.
According to the media report, the legendary boxer will give tips to local athletes during his tour to Pakistan in the coming months.
Amir Khan expressed disappointment after his rematch with Peterson was cancelled saying, ?I was really upset and angry because I trained very hard for this fight?.
He asserted that he wanted to knock him out this time but at the same time he feels that justice has been done. He said he got knew that something was not right after everything that went on with the first fight.
He expressed hopes that the commission will class that fight as a no contest and will return the belts to him.

Behind the Launch: How to Court Startup Investors

Discuss the show on Twitter: #BehindTheLaunch In Mashable‘s new video series, Behind the Launch, we’re taking cameras behind the scenes at Vungle, an in-app video advertising startup. Last week, we met the the founders and saw them bring on Colin Behr to head up business development. Now that they have a promising platform and a “closer,” it’s time to chat with investors. Silicon Valley names, such as 500 Startups‘ Dave McClure, DFJ Esprit‘s Krishna Visvanathan and AOL Ventures‘ Adam Smith, appear in this episode, as Jack and Zain court investors and learn from the best. “They don’t want ‘Yes men,’” says Smith.
