Til sidst har vi Zeds Dead og Omar Linx i endnu et samarbejde, hvor de har udgivet en fremragende ny EP. Personligt synes jeg You and I er det fedeste, uden at sige de andre ikke er fede for det er de virkelig. The Walking Dead recently concluded its second season in what was a rollercoaster of a ride for all those who watched it and not just in terms of the relationships or emotions of the characters but also in terms of the slight inconsistency when it came to the episodes. The second season was split into two halves, with the first half taking the group to a farm, where they met up with Hershel and his family, who seemed to be by and large, unaffected by the rise of the undead. At the same time, Rick?s son, Carl, had been shot by one of Hershel?s men and we spend the first few episodes seeing him nursed back to health. Shane killing off Otis to save himself, and a number of other subplots that begin to unfold with each passing episode. Yet, the main story of the first half of the season is the group?s search for Sophia, who got separated from the group following an ambush by the walkers. At the end of the first half of the season the group finds out that Sophia had been a walker the entire time in a barn where Hershel had kept anyone who ?turned? in the hopes that they would one day find a cure. The second half builds up to Rick killing Shane, with Dale being killed by a walker in the episode before that. The finale though has a full-fledged battle between the survivors and a seemingly endless horde of the undead. The group is split up as they fight for their lives before they regroup and move on. The show ends with Rick confessing that he had hid the fact that everyone was infected and would turn into a walker when they died and declares that if anyone does not wish to follow him then they are more than welcome. The show ends with a brief shot of a prison, which if anyone has read the comics, will know is where the next season will take place as Rick looks for a place they can ?make secure? against the walkers. All in all, the season finale was action packed and set things up brilliantly for the next season. The first season of the Walking Dead had everyone talking and the season finale was watched by over 5-million viewers. That put plenty of pressure on the second season to live up to the hype that its predecessor had created. In an effort to ensure that the second season could live up to the promise, AMC decided to break the season into two parts with half the season airing before taking a break of a few weeks and airing the second half afterwards. The first half followed the premise of Rick and his group of survivors being ambushed by a herd of walkers (zombies) and one of the children, Sophia, running off into the woods. The remainder of the episodes had the group searching for her and revolved around how the characters began forming into groups based on whether they wanted to continue the search or leave her for dead. It also introduced a number of new characters including Hershel, who later on plays a significant role in developing the plot. The first half ended with *SPOILER* the group finding a barn full of walkers before they kill every last one of them. The walkers had been kept there by Hershel who believed that they could be cured one day. However, when Sophia walks out as a zombie no one has it in them to kill her, so Rick steps up to the task in what has to be one of the most intense, vindictive scenes in any TV series or film for that matter. *SPOILER END* The second season sees a number of events happen all at once and without going into too much detail, it basically results in an all out battle between the survivors on Hershel?s farm and a horde of walkers. The ending itself sets up the next season nicely as they not only reveal a new character but also show the premise of the next season as well. After watching the season finale of the second season of The Walking Dead, I could not bear the thought that I had to wait a couple of months for the next season. So I went on to Google and dove deeper into the world of not only the TV series but rather the world that had been brought to life so artfully by Robert Kirkman. It was during this time that I stumbled upon the Walking Dead motion comic on YouTube. Not knowing what to expect I clicked the link, thinking it would be amateurish attempt by some teenager with an unhealthy obsession with the series and too much spare time on his hands. What I found instead was a wonderfully illustrated motion comic that had me hooked from the intro. The art style stays true to the comic, as does the plot. The way each individual zombie moves and the way the story?s protagonist Rick discovers what kind of a Hell he was woken into are both impressive. The animation is the motion comic?s greatest strength and that is what really gives the motion comic value. There is a subtle use of 3D as well, though not the type that pops out of the screen, but the zombies and the characters are not flat on the screen and seem rounded and shaped. In fact, one can see the depth in an open mouth and the bulge in a skull, which makes one wonder how talented the person, or persons, who put this all together is. So far I was only able to find two motion comics on YouTube as I was quickly distracted by motion comics for Spider-woman and the X-Men but I will be sure to find out if there are any more based on the Walking Dead. Because for the first time, I actually felt as if I was watching a book come to life and although I felt like I was cheating, being an avid reader, I enjoyed the new medium. AMC?s the Walking Dead is one of them and here are three reasons why. House MD, Suits, Madmen, Spartacus and A Game of Thrones, among others, really blur the line between television and film and in some cases tell a story better than the latter. Take for example HBO?s A Game of Thrones, which is returning for a second series on the 1st of April. The TV series remains true to the novel written by George R. R. Martin and does not shy away from the details. There are very few cuts and plenty of detail, something one would find it hard to say if there was a movie adaption. That is because with a television series one is not restricted to 2 hours of show time but rather can spread it out over one hour episodes for several weeks. One particular show that has taken full advantage of this is AMC?s the Walking Dead. Currently in its second season, the show has set a slow, haunting pace and each episode gives everyone new insight into the characters? struggle to survive in a world gone to Hell. One reason to watch the show is because, well, it is the only one out there that is currently catering to fans of the zombie genre. The undead may be in the background for many fans? liking, yet when they do appear, they never disappoint. The second reason is that apart from the zombies the relationships between the characters are so raw and fragile that it really draws one in. While it may not be anything like Shakespeare, it does have plenty of quality when it comes to the performances of its cast. The third reason one should watch the Walking Dead is because everyone else is and if you don?t want to be the odd one out or recommend an amazing ?new? series to your friends, then the Walking Dead is definitely the show for you.
