Cold Fusion Reactor States Doubted By Skeptics
Cold Fusion

Cold fusion, thus far an elusive achievement, would solve the world’s power problems. Mainstream physicists do not believe a nuclear reaction via cold fusion is possible. That fact hasn’t stopped some Italian scientists from saying cold fusion is a reality that is set for commercial applications. No doubt they took out significant personal loans to make this occur.
Cold fusion contradicts recognized laws of physics
Cold fusion was dismissed as junk after a pair of physicists declared in 1989 but nobody else could replicate the results. Cold fusion is still considered theoretically extremely hard, however Italian scientists Andrea Rossi and Sergio Focardi demonstrated a cold fusion reactor at the University of Bologna the Friday that past. They can’t explain why it works, but they say the system makes power because of cold fusion. Since there was not enough of a theory confirming this with the laws of physics that are accepted, their application for patent was rejected. They say it will take as little as three months in order to make a commercial cold fusion reactor.

What cold fusion and nuclear fission have in common
There’s a lot of energy that the sun creates. This is with the nuclear fusion though. Rossi and Focardi claim to have successfully achieved cold fusion — a process happening at room temperature — by fusing the atomic nuclei of nickel and hydrogen. A lot of heat energy and copper could be produced. Atomic reactors and nuclear weapons generate power via nuclear fission — which splits atoms to release energy along with an excellent deal of radiation and toxic waste. Only 400 watts of power is needed to make 12,400 watts according to the Italians that believe in cold fusion. There could be eight times the power created than it takes to operate with the commercial version of the cold fusion reactor. The cost of the cold fusion power would be relatively cheap. In fact, about 1 cent per kilowatt-hour would be charged. The United States had mostly coal generated power in the United States in 2004. This meant about 7.62 cents per kilotwatt-hour was the average.
Many power plants changing
Rossi and Focardi wrote a paper on cold fusion that was rejected by peer-reviewed journals. They published it themselves in an online journal “The Journal of Nuclear Physics” that they created. They say operating their cold fusion reactor is as simple as flicking a switch and following the instructions. An authorized dealer would have to refuel the reactor every six months. There is interest that a Greek utility company has shown.

The Responsive Neutron Generator Product Deployment Center (say that quickly five times) at Sandia Labs in Albuquerque, NM has discovered a way to take the conventional cylindrical tubes out of the equation and introduce a more computer-chip like, mass-produced neutron source on an astonishingly smaller scale. For those seeking lay terms, we’re hearing that possible practical applications include implantation close to tumors in cancer patients to minimize time in the hospital for treatment, and sensors for contraband . Sandia Labs’ technical staff has created what it calls a “neutristor,” which produces one neutron per transistor, a concept that was directly inspired by the two transistors per bit on microchips

Tough Cars of the Year, 2012: The list is out and Toyota rocks the roster ? Part 1

Every customer eyes two things in a car at the time of purchase; its safety and its luxury. Both of these factors have the either-, or- or both-nature when it comes to making a decision but the best bargain always boils down to the former one in the premise. Even if both factors are included, the safety factor always weighs more.
Every vehicle has the power to take the passenger from point A to point B, after all that is their foremost duty after the rubbers rolls on tarmac. However, the owner always fancies the minimum of hassle while travelling from A to B.
According to Steve Mazor of the Automobile Club of Southern California?s Automotive Research Center (ARC), the performance of the vehicle is completely dependent on the personal care from the owner. ?I?m not sure how much is the cost of the car itself and how much is the owner of the car, how they take care of the car, and the way they drive it,? says Mazor.
ARC has compiled a short list of the most common causes cited in towing incidents for his company from May 15, 2008 to November 15, 2010: Fuel pump; alternator; battery; starter; radiator; transmission; and hoses. Each cause might be avoided by the actions of a diligent owner who toughens up a car with preventative vehicle maintenance.
The durability of any car, regardless of the brand or quality gets prolonged by care from the owner, his/her driving style and the conditions in which it is driven; it is to state the obvious that off-roading or driving on uneven tarmac brings about the same damage to the care as rolling an egg on rocks.

However, it is meaningless to deny the toughness of a vehicle and scale it to know how much of hardship it can endure. Following criteria was followed by a research to find out the toughest cars in the world. However, it did not come as a surprise that Japanese models made most of the list.
Although it is too early to suggest which 2012 model will be the toughest but biasing ourselves with the pedigree of the brands and particular models and the tech specs they house can be beneficial to comb through the lists to extract the best out of the best.
We?ve decided to make an educated guess according to the dependability studies and safety testing of J.D. Power and Associates, Consumer Reports and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). First, we selected vehicles in each segment (including cars, minivans, SUVs and crossovers, but excluding trucks) that received a Top Three rating in the J.D. Power and Associates 2012 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study. Next, we compared that list with Consumer Reports ?Most Reliable? vehicles, based on their 2011 Annual Auto Study (the most recent study available at present). Any vehicle that appeared on both lists then proceeded to the final scrutiny, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety?s Top Safety Picks for 2012.
In order to make the list, a vehicle must receive a rating of ?GOOD? on all four of the IIHS?s crash tests: High-speed front collision, high-speed side collision, rollover, and seat/head restraint protection against neck injury in rear collisions. The cars (if any) in each segment that passed all three organizations? criteria are our picks for Toughest Cars on the Road for 2012.

Following is the list of the vehicles that made the top 9 list of Tough Cars for 2012.
2012 Acura TL
Acura TL is the most expensive of the list and it belongs to the section of luxury cars. The brand undoubtedly has the pedigree of being one of the most reliable cars in the world and TL 2012 model is no exception.
With 3.5-L V6 engine the vehicle churns out 280 hp/254 lb-ft or with an upgraded 3.7-L V6 it gives 305 hp/273 lb-ft.
2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid
The culture of hybrid cars is catching on its roots in the automotive industry and since the hiking oil prices have found their way to consumer?s wallet, these vehicles are getting more and more attention. Ford Fusion Hybrid is one example to quote.
Gone are the days when the hybrids and electric vehicles looked like an absurd nose on a beautiful face. These vehicles are getting more and more in-shape and stylish. Ford Fusion Hybrid is no exception to that fact. It starts sales at $28,775 but offers more fuel efficiency to the owners.
With a 2.5-L I4 engine it fires 156 hp/136 lb-ft with an extra kick of 35 hp from the Electric Motor.

2012 Honda Fit
The Honda Fit is the least expensive vehicle to make our list of Toughest Cars, with prices starting at $15,175. According to Consumer Reports, it is also an excellent value, topping the CR ?Best New Car Value? list for 2012 and 2011. The small hatchback is rated to deliver a tough punch at the pump, too, with EPA estimates of 28 mpg city/35 mpg highway from a 1.5-L I4 that provides 117 hp/106 lb-ft of torque.
2012 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid
Another hybrid populates the roster and for the second time in a row it?s a non-Japanese brand. Lincoln MKZ offers a great shape not only for a hybrid but any gas-engine vehicle from the world of the automobiles. However, all the luxury and comfort comes at a price that lifts up the car to a high-price budget. All the gas and electric engine power is available at a hefty $34,755.
With a 2.5-L I4 it delivers 156 hp and 136 lb-ft of torque with extra 35 hp from the Electric Motor.
2012 Scion xB
Another Japanese model with an efficient gas engine and reliable body, Scion beats other Toyota brands to the punch. The hatchback is one of affordable vehicles available in the US and the UK. With a humble price of $17,030, it brings luxury and durability to the hands of the owners.
The 2.4-L I4 engine churns out 158 horse powers and 162 lb-ft of torque to pull the engine from point A to point B.

2012 Scion xD
xB?s sibling comes at the following position with a marked and recognized reliability. The inclusion of two of the Scion models makes one believe that Toyota is one of the durable product in the world. And that is not words but Toyota has shown that through zero-tolerance toward the quality of its vehicles, regardless of the price and class.
The 1.8-L I4 produces 128 horse powers and 125 lb-ft of torque.
2012 Toyota Highlander
Third in a row! Toyota must be rock in its chair by now. The Japanese conglomerate has been one of the successful businesses in the world and one of the few to survive the 2008 crisis. And undoubtedly, its work shows what the company is capable of. The Highlander has been one of the most reliable vehicles over the last few years and 2012 has been no exception.
Despite being an SUV, a vehicle class that is known to eat on the fuel, the Highlander delivers top quality, best luxury and more reliability than the rest of the hoard. It is first SUV to enter the Tough Cars? list.
Its 2.7-L I4 engine gives 187 hp to all four wheels with a massive 186 lb-ft of torque, or the 3.5-L V6 engine spreads 270 hp to all wheels with a whopping 248 lb-ft of torque. Even the price is not high for a sports utility vehicle, $28,240

2012 Toyota Prius
The leader of the hoard of hybrid, no more, is still in the list. However, its fuel efficiency aside, it?s one of the most reliable cars in the world. Stating the obvious, it is the fourth Toyota on list in a row.
The car surely started the successful campaign of fuel-efficient and green cars, or at least gave it a boost with one-of-a-kind engine system of its day. Although there are now numerous hybrids in the market with elegant shapes, the Prius has not lost its charm and it is still considered synonymous to green factor in the automotive industry. At $24,000, it is an expensive buy for a hatchback but still its engine is fuel efficient.
With a 1.8-L I4 engine, the car kicks in 98 hp to go from A to B with 105 lb-ft of torque. Of course, the electric motor provides the 80 hp as well.
2012 Toyota Sienna
It looks more like Toyota?s list of Tough Cars on the road. Last but not the least, The Toyota Sienna concludes the list with a bang. The tribute to the Brazilian Formula 1 driver is though the likely vehicle name after a legend but it?s reliability gives the idea.
One of the most reliable and durable, Sienna gives more to driver than safety and fuel efficiency. Despite being station wagon, the luxury it holds is one of the best in this category. And the price is not big. The whole deal is your for $25,060.
The 2.7-L I4 engine fires 187 hp with 186 lb-ft of torque. However, the other option, a 3.5-L V6 engine adds more with 266 hp/245 lb-ft of torque.
