            <title>IOM to work with China to protect trafficking victims</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/vyhuzB7FNdc/</link>
            <description>IOM to work with China to protect trafficking victims
IOM is today hosting a four-day workshop in Beijing for senior Chinese counter-trafficking police and immigration officials to strengthen mechanisms designed to protect and assist victims of human trafficking.
The training, which is being attended by over 30 central and provincial officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Public Security and Civil Affairs, is part of IOM&amp;#8217;s &amp;quot;Capacity Building for Migration Management (CBMM) in China&amp;quot; project.
Trainers from IOM, China&amp;#8217;s Ministry of Public Security, Frontex, Germany and Portugal will share Chinese and European best practices on how to identify and assist victims of trafficking, including the provision of psycho-social and medical services.
&amp;quot;This training is not only designed to support Chinese frontline officers in their important work in combatting human trafficking, but also to promote better practical coordination and cooperation between Chinese and European organizations to combat cross-border
 trafficking,&amp;quot; said IOM Beijing Head of Office Par Liljert.
The training is the fourth activity of a comprehensive training approach including workshops, study tours, and research, and is designed to support the implementation of the Chinese National Plan of Action (NPA) on Combating Trafficking of Women and Children
 (2008-2012) and the UN&amp;#8217;s Palermo Protocol on combatting human trafficking.
The CBMM project seeks to promote cooperation between China and the European Union in the field of migration through the exchange of expertise, information and personnel.&amp;nbsp; It is principally financed by the European Commission, with co-funding from Italy and
 the United States.&amp;nbsp; It is implemented in close partnership with the Chinese Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Public Security, Commerce, and Civil Affairs.

            <link>http://julierolgaard.dk/saunagus-og-hvem-vil-vaere-millionaer/</link>
            <description>
Spa&amp;#39;en i Wellcome&amp;#8230;mums&amp;#8230;

For mig betyder det meget at komme rigtigt igang med ugen, og mine mandag morgener er derfor ret vigtige for mig. Jeg starter altid med en times hård boksning med Ashira, og så plejede jeg at gå til SaunaGus bagefter i spaen i Wellcome, hvor jeg også bokser. Men det er lang tid siden, jeg sidst har været med på sådan en spa time, så jeg havde helt glemt, hvor fantastisk det er&amp;#8230;

Kryds fingre for os&amp;#8230;.

            <title>Sydafrikansk vin får ?Fair Labor emblem?</title>
            <link>http://www.winenews.dk/2012/05/sydafrikansk-vin-far-fair-labor-emblem/</link>
&amp;#8220;Efter næsten 20 års demokrati og stor international eksponering af Sydafrikas vinproducenter, har landet nu nået en modenhed, hvor ingen krænkelser af menneskerettighederne skal tolereres.&amp;#8221;

            <title>France cave art the ?oldest? ? reveals study!</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/1ntEVn9eB-I/</link>
            <description>France cave art the &amp;#8216;oldest&amp;#8217; &amp;#8211; reveals study!

Experts have long debated whether the sophisticated animal drawings in a famous French cave are indeed the oldest of their kind in the world, and a study out Monday suggests that yes, they are.The smooth curves and fine details in the paintings of
 bears, rhinoceroses and horses in the chauvet&amp;nbsp;cave in southern France&amp;#8217;s picturesque Ardeche region are so advanced that some scholars thought they dated from 12,000 to 17,000 years ago.
That would place them as relics of the Magdalenian culture, in which human ancestors used tools of stone and bone and created increasingly advanced art as time went on.But scientists have previously shown through radiocarbon dating evidence of rock art,
 charcoal and animal bones in the Chauvet cave that the drawings are older than that, likely between 30,000-32,000 years old, befuddling some who believed that early art took on more primitive forms.
Now, according to research published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, a US journal, French scientists believe they have confirmation that the paintings are &amp;quot;the oldest and most elaborate ever discovered.&amp;quot;Their findings are based on
 an analysis &amp;#8212; called geomorphological and chlorine-36 dating &amp;#8212; of the rockslide surfaces around what is believed to be the cave&amp;#8217;s only entrance.
The research shows that an overhanging cliff began collapsing 29,000 years ago and did so repeatedly over time, definitively sealing the entrance to humans around 21,000 years ago.That would mean the drawings had to have been done before that, bolstering
 the notion that they were created by people in the Aurignacian culture, which lived 28,000 to 40,000 years ago.
&amp;quot;Remarkably agreeing with the radiocarbon dates of the human and animal occupancy, this study confirms that the Chauvet cave paintings are the oldest and the most elaborate ever discovered, challenging our current knowledge of human cognitive evolution,&amp;quot;
 said the study.According to lead author Benjamin Sadier, the findings put an end to any debate over when the drawings may have been done based on their style.
&amp;quot;What our work shows, and other work that will soon be published, is that the method of dating by style is no longer valid,&amp;quot; he told AFP in a phone interview.&amp;quot;By proving that this cave was closed for good 21,500 years ago, we completely eradicate the hypothesis
 of a more recent painting of the cave, and we also confirm the age of the cave which was already known through radiocarbon dating,&amp;quot; he added.
&amp;quot;Before we were pretty sure. And now we are sure. It&amp;#8217;s a way of gathering independent proof, meaning we can figure out the age of the cave by geological means, not archeological ones.&amp;quot;The cave and its remarkably well-preserved paintings were closed to human
 access by the rockfalls and were only recently rediscovered in 1994.
Researchers involved in the work came from France&amp;#8217;s University of Savoie, Aix Marseille University and the Centre National de Prehistoire.

            <title>Shoulder injury will not halt her way to victory at the 2012 London Olympics: Stephanie Rice</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/2UtXRr__4f4/</link>
            <description>Shoulder injury will not halt her way to victory at the 2012 London Olympics: Stephanie Rice
Australian veteran and three-time Olympic Games champion, Stephanie Rice has expressed confidence that her shoulder injury will not come in the way of her success at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Rice, who will defend her titles of the 200m and 400m Individual Medley (IM), is feared about her parents? presence at the London Games, as they have not been able to purchase the tickets yet.
?My parents are finding it really hard to get tickets. They have really struggled, but they know how important it is to me for them to be there. The hardest part is the fact there are no tickets available regardless of the cost,? she said.
?The last six weeks leading into the nationals I kept it at a pretty decent state and I?m trying to maintain it leading into this preparation. Obviously when we build up training and intensity it becomes more vulnerable, so I need to make sure I?m ticking
 every box with massage and physio and icing my shoulder after every session. Some sessions just aren?t there and we have to learn when to back off and make up for what I miss. If I can get a really good preparation in the next 12 weeks I?ll be confident when
 I get to London,? she added.
While sharing her experience at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Rice said, ?Everyone asks what was the best swim for me in Beijing, but the relay was probably the most enjoyable. To come away with the gold when no-one expected us to was amazing. We can produce
 another great swim if we?re all ready to go come London.?
Rice dominated her events at the Australian Selection Trials for the Olympic Games and proved her eligibility in the Australian team.
The Olympic champion has no doubts in defending her title of the 200m and 400m IM and aroused expectations of her fans by saying that she will make her country proud at the forthcoming Olympic Games.

            <title>How to Hire Remote Staff You Won?t Want to Keep Far, Far Away</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/whatworksforbusiness/~3/j4_lUCMI7Kw/</link>
            <description>We?ve all endured appalling job interviews.
Whether it?s the guy who came in wearing spandex bike shorts, the woman who talked on her cell phone for 15 minutes without stopping, or the college grad who brought his mom in, awkwardness and bad fits abound in the interviewing process.
Imagine taking those bad in-person encounters and putting them on the phone.
How would you know who?s likely to wear neon yellow spandex to the office? How would you weed out the kids who are still using Mommy as their security blanket? It seems like it would be even harder to hire good staff remotely, but it?s entirely possible to find great hires from afar. You simply have to know what you?re doing.
Create the Right Interview Process for Your Company
If you run a company that has employees scattered across the country ? or the globe ? you?re going to have to do some remote hiring. As you develop a remote hiring system, keep an eye on what works best for your business in its day-to-day operations. What makes you most productive will also help you locate the right hires.
For example, my company has a large Facebook fan base. We?ve moved to posting positions on Facebook ? because we have a large pool of people using our page, we?re not shorting ourselves on quantity or quality. (This also works if you have a solid client list or a professional association you work with.)
We know that these people are already passionate about our brand and the market space we occupy, which is tremendously important. Skills can always be developed, but initial interest is crucial. You don?t want people who hardly know what you do trying to explain it to other people ? then you?ve created the awkward situation.
One good way to create a real-life interview experience is to do video interviews via Skype. This allows you to see the person you?re interacting with and get a feel for their communication style. (Non-verbal signals count just as much as speech. If you don?t believe that, imagine Bill Cosby without the exaggerated facial expressions. Jell-O seems a lot less appealing without them.)
The best way to pull people out during Skype interviews is to chat them up as if you were meeting at a social event. The benefit of a webcam is that you can pick up on people?s personalities more clearly. You want to know if they?d be a good fit for your company, even if they?ll be thousands of miles away. People can still be very annoying from distant zip codes.
Narrow the Field Selectively
The first thing you?re looking for in a potential employee is ability.
The most accurate view you?ll get of their skills is via their past work ? always ask for samples. People who?ve struggled to produce good work in the area you?re hiring aren?t going to suddenly become talented overnight. If you don?t want to be the person to build them from scratch, carefully look over their old work.
Test projects also allow you to see people?s capabilities, particularly if they?ve completed work that?s so different from what you?re looking for that you?re having difficulty gauging their fit. Once you?ve eliminated the people who aren?t up to snuff, send the remainder a test project. This doesn?t have to be something you actually need, but it should be something that requires a 30-60-minute time investment on the candidate?s part.
If it?s a design position, you can have them create a small banner; if you?re hiring a writer, you can ask them to craft a short email. A lot of people will blow the assignment off, so that cuts out the tire kickers who are too lazy to go the extra mile. These tests also let you evaluate how the candidates respond to your needs. People who develop samples that reflect your way of thinking will immediately rise to the top, as will the people who improve upon what you yourself would have done.
Eliminate the Bad Fits
Once your field is down to just a couple of people, you need to check references.
A true former employer, supervisor, or co-worker counts as a qualified reference; the neighbor who paid the candidate to mow his lawn doesn?t. Contacting references is time-consuming, but these people will be able to give you a firsthand account of what it?s like to work with the fabulous-seeming people you?re considering.
But don?t just rely upon former employers? impressions.
Think about how the candidate responded throughout the hiring process. Did she respond on time? Was she easy to communicate with? Did she fully answer all the questions you asked? Did she behave appropriately? It?s easy to overlook these things when someone?s work has blown you away, but fit is crucial. You?ll have to work closely with the person you hire, so finding out how they?ll act in the environment you?ve created is important. One ill-fitting hire can scare off the rest of your superstar squad.
It?s true that people can find ways to hide their true natures during the interview process, no matter the format. But following these steps will make it much harder for candidates to hide their rude phone manners ? or the spandex bike short collection that would make Lance Armstrong jealous.
Take the extra time to vet your remote candidates, and you won?t spend the rest of their tenure avoiding them!

            <title>Abdul Sattar Edhi lashes out at Government for not allowing him to continue aid work</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/8z1UJzw2HeM/</link>
            <description>Abdul Sattar Edhi, world?s renowned social worker, lashed out at the government for not allowing him to help the people of Liyari, saying law enforcement agencies are creating hurdles in his work.
While addressing a press conference against policemen, the trustworthy aid-worker observed, ?I was given protection in Gaza and Iraq but have been banned from serving my own people in my own back yard?.
He said that he had visited every part of Pakistan where even dacoits have helped him but the government seems unhappy with his aid campaign.
Edhi said, ?I am under house arrest and police have been deployed outside my house. I have been restricted from going outside?. He told journalists that he demanded the government to lift the ban allowing him to serve the people who have been in a miserable condition for the last one week.
Following police launched a security operation to ostensibly flush out criminals in Liyari; the area has been in lockdown for over seven days. However, it became impossible for people to leave the area and many families were cut off because of the violent exchange of firing.
The aid-worker, whose work has been worldly recognized, claimed that there were no dacoits or gangsters in Liyari, urging that the common man was free to move around in the area.
Surrounded by members of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Edhi appealed the high ups to take immediate note of the matter.
Uzma Noorani alleged, ?Were the people of Lyari taken into confidence before the operation? Did the police achieve its target? Were human rights not violated? The government has turned Lyari into a war zone?.
Another member Dr Idrees Edhi while speaking at the occasion said that women, children and the elderly were under immense stress.
He added that diseases would spread as sanitary workers have not been visiting Liyari since the launch of the operation.
?There has been no power, water and medicine in the area and people are not allowed to visit hospitals. The criminals should be punished and detained but not at the cost of women, children,? he added.

&amp;#8220;Kevin Mitnick: I think in this post-9/11 world that our government, the people in the DoJ (Department of Justice, det amerikanske justitsministerium, red.), are really exploiting this tragedy to get more power under the pretense that it is to fight terrorism. They are trying to get a lot of power to surveil United States citizens with very little or no judicial review. It is concerning to me, because each and every time we as Americans, in trying to achieve better security because of the fear of terrorism, each and every time we give up a civil liberty, we will never get it back.
&amp;#8230;
And then I think about, why, when the government is asking for additional power, why do they not ask for that additional power for a very limited period of time. They say, well the fight against terrorism is going to go on indefinitely, it is never going to be over. Just like the war on drugs, it is still going on today, it is never going to be over. So it really concerns about how easily people are willing to give up these rights.
Interviewer (Emmanuel Goldstein): Well it is because of fear, because people are afraid, they are willing to give up rights because of what will happen &amp;#8230;
Mitnick: They are willing to give up their privacy in exchange for feeling more secure, but once you give up those privacy rights, you will never EVER get them back, period.&amp;#8221;

            <title>HRCP calls for immediate attention to people?s plight in Lyari</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/IVgFnM7Wk4A/</link>
            <description>HRCP calls for immediate attention to people?s plight in Lyari
Lahore, April 30:&amp;nbsp;The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has voiced concern over the acute difficulties of the civilian population in Lyari,&amp;nbsp;Karachi, where law enforcement agencies? operation against
 organised crime has been going on for several days.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Commission said: ?HRCP is not in a position to comment on the nature and utility of the operation being carried out in Lyari, but it must express its utmost concern over the unbearable ordeal
 of the people living in the area. Reports have emerged of shortage of essentials and of Lyari residents having no access to electricity, water and other basic provisions, including milk for children. The fact that many people have been forced to migrate amid
 clashes between law enforcement personnel and their targets and that there are no arrangements to provide them shelter is intolerable. The education of children has been completely disrupted. It is regrettable that the problems of the people that could not
 have been too difficult to imagine beforehand have not received due attention. Relief bodies must continue to supply food and other basic provisions to the people, access to hospitals and transport should be ensured, and precautions taken to save the people
 from being caught up in the crossfire. The authorities must make sure that the operation does not add to the miseries of the peaceful residents of the area. They must also be transparent about the operation and its strategy, achievements and timeframe, amid
 accusations that the operation is one-sided. HRCP calls upon the government and all political parties to work towards bringing peace to the violence-hit area of&amp;nbsp;Karachi&amp;nbsp;at the earliest&amp;nbsp;and notes,&amp;nbsp;with regret,&amp;nbsp;that gunbattles&amp;nbsp;have taken 19 lives, including
 those of three policemen and injured many people, including two journalists.&amp;nbsp;Larger questions of how the miscreants in the area came to be so organised and got their hands on sophisticated weapons on a large scale must also be answered and the reasons for
 any law breaker?s ability to repeatedly take a stranglehold on Karachi and what countermeasures are planned must be explained to the people. The most essential point is that any operation that causes innocent citizens and their families more loss of life and
 misery than the outlaws is unacceptable.?

            <title>Canada offers financial support for police training to combat people smuggling in Indonesia</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/vmFg87jIelQ/</link>
            <description>Canada offers financial support for police training to combat people smuggling in Indonesia
IOM has launched the first of 38 awareness raising workshops for Indonesian police officers under its Canadian-funded Frontline Officers&amp;#8217; Awareness Training (FLOAT 2012) project to combat people smuggling in Indonesia.
Some 50 provincial police officers attended the FLOAT National Leadership Awareness Workshop -Training of Trainers on People Smuggling in Jakarta this week, which will be followed by two regional leadership sessions. Participants from these three trainings
 will lead 35 community level awareness workshops over the next 4 months, targeting some 2,760 officers. &amp;nbsp;
The leadership workshops will brief participants on the challenges posed by people smuggling, how to handle cases of smuggled migrants, and inter-agency coordination and cooperation. &amp;nbsp;
The Training of Trainers component will ensure that the Indonesian National Police has a pool of trainers who can reach out to community officers &amp;#8211; many of whom are frontline marine, aviation, and foot patrol police from remote locations.
Indonesia is the 4th most populous country in the world and, with 17,000 islands and an 81,000-km long porous coastline, is a key transit country for people smuggling, notably to Australia, but also to Canada.
FLOAT 2012 is a 14-month, USD 2 million Canadian government-funded regional initiative launched in January 2012 to combat people smuggling in Southeast Asia. Other FLOAT projects are underway in Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, Cambodia and Vietnam.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;

            <title>Amina Janjua expresses disappointment to the independent judiciary</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/A-5kvEYh9Zk/</link>
            <description>Despite the claims of free and independent judiciary, Defence of Human Rights (DHR) Chairwoman Amina Masood Janjua at last lost her patience, expressing disappointment with the Supreme Court of Pakistan in providing justice.
Janjua while speaking to the media said the Supreme Court (SC) has convicted Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani in a contempt of court case, but the dilemma of missing persons has not been resolved so far.
She announced to withdraw the case regarding the recovery of her husband, which was pending before the Supreme Court since 2006. She said that she was too disappointed with the judiciary for not taking up her husband?s case since long.
The Chairwoman DHR alleged that the apex court was not serious in providing justice to her, saying she had written five letters to the court for resuming the hearing of missing person?s cases, but all in vein.
She commented, ?Despite pursuing the case of my husband for six long years in the courts, I did not get any relief while the security personnel repeatedly changed their stance regarding the whereabouts of Janjua?.
The bravo lady elucidated that she had taken her husband?s case from the apex court under protest, vowing that she would not withdraw cases regarding other missing persons in the courts.
Amina noted down said that she decided to employ different medium to raise voice for the recovery of her disappeared husband for many years.
Posing a query to the courts, she said the courts did not dispose of old cases missing persons, which were the main reasons in the proliferation of November 3, 2007 emergency.
Commenting about setting up camps by the families of missing persons, the DHR chairwoman claimed that 100 to 150 families had spent 75 days in the camps, but no one was ready in addressing their grievances.
Due to various reasons, she said many families opted not to pursue cases of their missing relatives. The heinous practice was on the rise in the previous year as 95 people went missing in 2011 as compared to 80 in 2010, she added.
The DHR Chairwomen informed the media that she had received 364 Baloch missing persons? cases, but no one took any step in this regard.

            <title>Syrisk oprørshær erkender henrettelser af krigsfanger</title>
            <link>http://www.information.dk/299551</link>
