<title>Iran says no to a new round of talks on the nuclear issue with the P5</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/v-sN5mpbdDI/</link>
<description>There is no basis yet for another round of negotiations with the P5&amp;#43;1 world powers after the current talks in Baghdad, an Iranian official said on Thursday as the final session here got underway. EU foreign policy chief Catherine
Ashton ?didn?t say anything new this morning? in a bilateral meeting with Iran earlier Thursday, the official said on condition of anonymity.
?It seems that the base for another round of negotiations doesn?t exist yet, unless in the coming two hours the two sides reach an agreement.? On Wednesday Ashton, on behalf the United States, Russia, Britain, China, France and
Germany, made a new set of proposals reportedly demanding Iran freeze the most sensitive part of its nuclear work, 20-per cent uranium enrichment.
The group?s main aim is finding the basis to agree to get into a lengthy process of regular negotiations aimed at hashing out the details of measures that build confidence in the peaceful nature of Iran?s activities. In return
the P5&amp;#43;1 offered a set of incentives that however fell short of meeting Iran?s main demand for any suspension, namely the easing of the crippling UN and unilateral sanctions piled on the country in recent years.
Reflecting official thinking, Iranian state media, including the Islamic Republic News Agency, all called the proposals ?outdated, not comprehensive and unbalanced?. Iran made a five-step counter-proposal that an official said
was ?based on the principles of step-by-step and reciprocity?, which the ISNA news agency called ?comprehensive? transparent and practical?.
?The other party knows the Iranian answer to their proposal, but we didn?t receive any response to our proposal. Maybe the level of the delegations is not high enough to be able to take decisions,? the official said on Thursday.
 He said that the United States ?is backtracking in comparison with Istanbul because in Istanbul their position was more positive,? referring to the previous P5&amp;#43;1 talks with Iran in mid-April, the first in 15 months.&amp;nbsp;

<title>IAEA set to reach agreement with Tehran over its nuclear program</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/N3scIXJolzo/</link>
<description>Reports claim that the International Atomic Energy Association and Tehran are on the verge of reaching an early agreement over the country?s nuclear program
An agreement will soon be reached between Iran and Western powers according to the Director General of IAEA.
The major powers and Iran will meet on Wednesday in hopes of halting an escalating crisis over Iran?s nuclear program. However, Israel has welcomed IAEA and Tehran?s stance of closing in on the agreement earlier than expected.
The DOG of International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya Armano claims that significant developments have been made between the western powers and Tehran.
However, there is nothing conclusive about these reports as a couple of Western diplomats claim that there has been no breakthrough so far but claim that further meetings in Vienna will give a more ?clearer picture?.
On Tuesday, Israel expressed its scepticism over the agreement.
?We have seen how agreements between the IAEA and Iran were flagrantly violated by Iran. Iran is always looking to destroy Israel and threatens world peace,? lamented Israeli PM, Benjamin Netanyahu.
The PM has also urged negotiators to grant Tehran no concessions whatsoever.

<description>Den Tredje Golfkrig er brudt ud!

<title>Iran: Gadefejer finder og returnerer $500,000</title>
            <link>http://da.globalvoicesonline.org/2012/05/3332</link>

Bloggeren skriver [fa]:
&amp;#8230; a man from the working class and a member of the municipality found 1 billion Toman in a bag and returned it to its owner. We realise the worthiness of his actions when we learn he lived in poverty because of dire economic situation in country. Naturally he could have kept the money, resigned from his job, and become one of these millionaires. But he did not do it. Let that be a lesson to those thieves and corrupt people who steal everything in the country and with their impure policies that create endless economic difficulties.
Dignity still exists&amp;#8230; in a time when a brother has no mercy for a brother&amp;#8230; I was born in a working class family and I can sympathise with all the difficulties these people face&amp;#8230; I praise his dignity, and think he should get a medal of honor for his actions.

<title>United States making efforts to fail Pak-Iran gas pipeline deal ? Pakistan oil and gas news update</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/4qJzti-IFAc/</link>
<description>United States making efforts to fail Pak-Iran gas pipeline deal &amp;#8211; Pakistan oil and gas news update

If a
Pakistani worker Imrah Haider were trapped inside the elevator on the market in Lahore, during one of the frequent interruptions in power supply of the city, in vain attempts were made to save him.
But it was just not enough time, it withered and died.
In a country
where temperatures can reach 30-50 degrees, is often a shortage of energy, which can last up to 12 hours were the cause of numerous protests and anger against the government is seen as too incompetent to handle the situation.
With emergency patients in hospitals to schools and businesses &amp;#8211; their social and economic impact has been crippled.
This aspect of the problem of Pakistan, &amp;quot;power politics&amp;quot; has put the government in
a difficult position &amp;#8211; not only internally but also with regard to external relations of the country.
Last month, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said that Pakistan will buy 1100 megawatts of
electricity from Iran, as well as oil and gas. These two countries have worked for many years towards the establishment of the Iran-Pakistan
 gas pipeline.
But the United States government has expressed its displeasure, warning that the project may be in violation
of the law sanctions against Iran. Earlier, India is also part of the pipeline project,
but pulled out in 2009 after the U.S. made the nuclear deal with the country.
The pressure on Pakistan, however, continues.
&amp;quot;As
we stepped up pressure on Iran seems to be somewhat inexplicably, that Pakistan will try to negotiate the pipeline, said U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. And there is an alternative that we strongly support &amp;#8211; the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India
 [TAPI] pipeline.
The problem with the latest unstable situation in Afghanistan and in
fact it would take much longer to build, since the power crisis Pakistan is urgent.
Despite this, the Pakistani government aims to go ahead with the TAPI project, in addition to its obligations to Iran.

<title>India considering exporting wheat to sanction crippled Iran</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/R_oiFUSgkPk/</link>
<description>India is considering wheat exports to Iran, as New Delhi hopes to boost exports to the sanctions-hit nation to help settle part of its oil imports bill through a bilateral mechanism. An Iranian trade delegation will come to India
next week to discuss wheat exports, the source added, without elaborating on the likely payment mechanism for sales to Iran.
Food shipments are not targeted under Western sanctions, but Iranian companies have been cut off from much of the global banking system because of the financial measures against Tehran, making payments difficult and discouraging
traders. Tighter sanctions are targeting Iran?s oil trade and central bank to pressure Tehran to shut down its nuclear programme, which Iran says is for peaceful purposes.
Asked whether the government would export wheat to Iran, the government source told reporters: ?That is under consideration.? India, one of Iran?s largest oil clients, aims to cut the trade imbalance which is currently tilted towards
 Tehran.
Exports from the South Asian nation accounted for about $2.8 billion versus imports of about $11 billion in 2010/11, according to government data. India earlier this year decided to try to settle 45 per cent of its oil trade with
Tehran in the rupee ? which is not globally traded ? by settling payment for Indian exporters without the involvement of foreign banks.

<title>France looking to strengthen relations with Iran</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/i3n655NRXk8/</link>
<description>In a bid to make a fresh start, the new French government?s policy towards Iran will be more flexible
France and Iran have had a feisty relationship in recent years. however, what many people don?t know is that the two countries share a rich culture which goes way back to the XVII century.
From the Persian Letters to Montesquieu to the choice of used Sadi for the name of former French Republic president Sadi Carnot to pay homage to great Persian poet Saadi. These seven centuries old relations have deep roots in both countries? history.
After the Islamic Revolution in 1979, relations between the two nations went through a testing period.
Also, unfortunately, in recent years, relations and cooperation between&amp;nbsp;Iran&amp;nbsp;and France have been particularly influenced improperly and unfairly by the nuclear dilemma.&amp;nbsp;.
Iran&amp;#8217;s nuclear program began more than half a century ago with the involvement of Western countries (including France) and continued with purely civilian targets and in order to&amp;nbsp;ensure&amp;nbsp;the objectives of development.
Recall that Iran is a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and has ratified the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) for years before France did so.
The IAEA has conducted 4,000 inspections-day&amp;nbsp;[the equivalent of 4,000 days of inspections if the work had been done by one man]&amp;nbsp;in Iran.&amp;nbsp;Dozens of unannounced inspections have been completed and confirmed the absence of any deviation in Iran&amp;#8217;s nuclear
program.&amp;nbsp;Negotiations restarted in Istanbul in January with the 5 &amp;#43;1 group&amp;nbsp;[&amp;nbsp;U.S.&amp;nbsp;,&amp;nbsp;Russia&amp;nbsp;,&amp;nbsp;China&amp;nbsp;, France and Britain, plus&amp;nbsp;Germany&amp;nbsp;]will continue May 23 in Baghdad.
Under President&amp;nbsp;Nicolas Sarkozy&amp;nbsp;, the French position was to&amp;nbsp;refuse&amp;nbsp;to mitigate the coercive measures taken against Iran, without commitment by the latter to suspend&amp;nbsp;its uranium enrichment activities&amp;nbsp;.

<title>Iran, Pakistan, North Korea and Israel most negatively rated countries in the world</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/jh-C5ToYURQ/</link>
<description>Iran, Pakistan, North Korea and Israel most negatively rated countries in the world
Recently, in a poll conducted on BBC World Services, Pakistan was rated as the second in the list of most negatively rated countries. About 24,090 people worldwide participated in the survey.
As per the details, citizen from over 22 countries were interviewed face-to-face or by telephone between December 6, 2011 and February 17, 2012. The polling was conducted by the international polling firm GlobeScan and its research partners in each country,
together with the Program on International Policy Attitude (PIPA) at the University of Maryland.
About 51% of the respondents rated Pakistan as a negative perceived country, and thus, put in just above Iran which was rated negative by about 55 % of the total respondents.
Interestingly, among all, Pakistan was the only country that rated its own influence as negative. However, as compared to last year, a negative view about Pakistan was declined by 4 %.
The survey depicted that a negative review of Pakistan prevailed in the answers mainly from Western countries. About 75% Americans, 69 % Canadians and 72% Australian said that Pakistan?s influence in the world was mainly negative.
The pattern of negative perception was somewhat similar in the Western countries. The view of Pakistan expressed by India, the arch-rival, was also quite negative.
Sharing reasons for such rating, most of the respondents blamed Pakistan?s foreign policy and the poor treatment of its citizens for such widespread negative image of the country.
Out of all 22 countries surveyed, Indonesia appeared to be the only country that had positive views about Pakistan.

<title>Iran says that it will never give up its nuclear rights</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/Ta-xoewsKfE/</link>
<description>Iran rejects Western pressures over its nuclear activities and will never give up its rights, Tehran?s chief nuclear negotiator said Thursday ahead of crunch talks with world powers in Baghdad next week. ?If we participate in the
negotiations? it is because of our resistance (to Western powers). Thanks to our resistance, we have defended the rights of the Iranian people,? Saeed Jalili said in a speech broadcast on local television.
?The Iranian people will never give up even an iota of their rights,?Jalili added, in reference to the Islamic republic?s nuclear drive which the West suspects is masking a weapons programme. Tehran vehemently denies the charge.
After a 15 month hiatus, Iran and the P5&amp;#43;1 powers ? Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany ? held their first talks in Istanbul in mid-April, which were described as ?positive.?The parties agreed to more
in-depth discussions in Baghdad on May 23. ?I advise Western officials against making calculated mistakes. In Baghdad, we can negotiate for cooperation on the basis of respect for Iran?s undeniable rights,? Jalili said.
?The path chosen by our country is a path of no return. The (West) would like to block Iran?s progress in the nuclear domain, but they have failed. Iran today has become a nuclear power,? he added. ?To those who say that time is
running out for dialogue, I reply: What is running out is the policy of pressuring Iran, because this strategy has not yielded the results? expected by world powers.
The United States and the European Union have tightened economic sanctions on Iran, imposing tough restrictions on its vital oil industry, to pressure it over its disputed uranium enrichment programme. US President Barack Obama
warned Iran in March that time was running out to resolve the standoff through diplomacy.

<title>Plans for military strike on Iran ready; claims US, Israel envoy</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/k67H9edD66E/</link>
<description>Plans for military strike on Iran ready; claims US, Israel envoy
Jerusalem: The US ambassador to Israel said today that the plans for a military strike on Iran were ready and the option to do so was fully available.
A few days ago, stepping down from its earlier stance, Tehran had expressed its willingness to talk to the world powers that suspect the country of developing nuclear arms.
Expressing an opinion somewhat similar to that of Israel, the US has said that it consider the use of military force as a last resort to prevent Iran from using its uranium enrichment to make atomic bomb. Iran, on the other hand,
insists that its plan is purely for civilian purposes.
Stating that solving the issue diplomatically was a preferable option, ambassador Dan Shapiro said on Israel?s Army Radio today, ?It would be preferable to resolve this diplomatically and through the use of pressure than to use
 military force.?
?But that doesn?t mean that option is not fully available ? not just available, but it?s ready. The necessary planning has been done to ensure that it?s ready.? Shapiro added further.
The United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany have been using sanctions and negotiations to try to persuade Iran to curb its uranium enrichment, which can produce fuel for reactors, medical isotopes, and, at higher
levels of purification, fissile material for warheads.
New sessions for talks opened last month in Istanbul, and now they will resume on May 23 in Baghdad.
Israel, which is perceived to be the only country in Middle East armed with atomic arsenal, feels threatened by the prospect of its arch-rival Iran attaining the nuclear technology. And thus, it has also hinted towards launching
 a preemptive war.
However, many defence analysts do not buy the idea of Israel having enough power to bring Iran on its knees. However, while using US military clout, the situation can turn well against Iran and may bring lasting damage to the country?s
 nuclear program.
Earlier, back in January, Shapiro told an Israeli newspaper that the US was ?guaranteeing that the military option is ready and available to the president at the moment he decides to use it?.
The Unites States lawmakers are presently mulling over doing additional legislation that may increase pressure on Iran, with further measures to punish the foreign companies for dealing with Iran in any capacity.
