I den her sag burde man have lyttet til briterne, siger Jesper Hansen.

<title>Rehman Malik shoots down Nawaz Sharif?s proposal to unilaterally withdraw from Siachin</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/NAVGvciqR38/</link>
            <description>Rehman Malik shoots down&amp;nbsp;Nawaz Sharif&amp;#8217;s proposal to&amp;nbsp;unilaterally withdraw from Siachin&amp;nbsp;
Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Wednesday said that every inch of the country is sacred and Pakistan will never withdraw its army from Siachin unilaterally.
Talking to media after chairing a high level meeting, he castigated Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Chief&amp;nbsp;Nawaz Sharif for suggesting a unilateral withdrawal of Pakistan Army from Siachen. The icy military post, often dubbed as the world?s highest battleground
for its 5700 meters height, has been under the spotlight recently after an avalanche buried nearly 140 soldiers and civilian contractors there.
Malik said Pakistan will not initiate the withdrawal process, however it remained in favour of resolving the issue through negotiations.
The high level meeting reviewed law and order situation and security of prisons in light of a raid on the Bannu central prison on Sunday. The meeting was attended by Secretary Interior, Additional Secretary Interior, Provincial Home Secretaries, IGs, IG
Prisons, IG FC and representatives of law enforcement agencies. The meeting decided several measures for enhancing security of prisons and improving performance of the staff.
Addressing the meeting, Malik said the salaries and perks of prisons staff would be made at par with regular police. Jails would be categorised as ?A?, ?B? and ?C? and security cover would be determined as per category of the prison. A high power Jail Reform
committee was also been constituted. Secretary Interior will head the committee, home secretaries and respective IGs would be the members of the committee. The committee has been assigned to report within four weeks, he said.
Security scanners would be installed in jails. Call record of prisoners would be maintained. Pakistan Ordinance Factories Wah would be asked to provide weapons to prison police on deferred payments. National Police Academy will provide training facilities
to 150 to 200 master trainers of prison police. A quick reaction force would also be established in the vicinity of jails.
They decided that Rangers and or Frontier Constabulary would be deployed at the Adiala jail. Meanwhile, prison service would be declared as essential service. Financial packages would be offered to the jail officials who sacrifice their lives in line of
 duty.
In a move to minimise court house escapes, all ATA cases would be heard inside prisons.
Malik directed NADRA to conduct survey and scrutinise identity of all prisoners in the country for compilation of personal database of prisoners. He added that a summery would be moved soon to the Prime Minister for providing service cadre to jail officials.
A No-Objection Certificate for installing jammers in prisons was also issued.
Responding to a question, he admitted that Bannu Jail incident was intelligence failure.

<title>Senator John McCain raises finger at ISI</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/YdK_Da4Piws/</link>
<description>Senator John McCain, the prominent US Republican expressed disappointment at Pakistan?s spy agency?s continued cooperation with Haqqani network, saying it is reprehensible that Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) maintains a close relationship with the militant outfits.
Addressing at an American think-tank Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, Senator McCain said he had sympathy for Pakistan?s military since the Pakistani government is dysfunctional.
He claimed that Haqqani network was responsible for American deaths in Afghanistan. However, it war remained sources of never-ending frustration that the ISI had consistent ties with the militant outfit.
While replying to a query, General Kayani?s recent statement on India, John McCain appreciated it, saying that the fact remains that the Pakistan Army?s best troops and equipment were on the border with India, and not Afghanistan.
Criticizing the Obama administration?s policy on reconciliation with the Taliban, the Senator said the United States should have a strategic partnership with Afghanistan.  He observed, ?It will demonstrate to Pakistan that continued support for the Taliban will leave them more isolated and less secure?.
While replying to a query on Kashmir dispute, the Republican said that it was not an excuse for Pakistan to not break relationships with the Haqqanis. He, however, confessed that Kashmir remains a longstanding problem, which is a most beautiful place on earth.
Calling the incident of US soldiers photographed with body parts of Afghans published in the Los Angeles Times as deplorable and despicable, he observed it tarnished the work that US soldiers are doing out here, and said that 99.9% of young Americans serving in Afghanistan have the highest standards.
Pakistan?s Ambassador to the US Sherry Rehman while speaking to the ceremony said that Pakistan has no connection with terrorist organisations that are creating unrest in the region.
The ambassador said the US has expressed concerns about its defence, but Pakistan, too, has ?red lines? that should not be crossed. She said Pakistan does not consider Afghanistan a ?strategic backyard?.
She commented, ?Negotiations with the US will be held in light of the parliament?s recommendations. Pakistan will in no way compromise on its sovereignty?.

<title>Pakistan and U.S relationship should be based on realistic expectations says Sherry Rehman</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/FK4Ckq7CJMU/</link>
<description>Pakistan wants its relationship with the United States to be based on realistic expectations, mutual respect for sovereignty and appreciation of each other?s legitimate security interests, Islamabad?s envoy in Washington said.
Ambassador Sherry Rehman said Pakistan wants the important relationship to be mutually cooperative.
She was addressing a reception held in honour of a visiting delegation of National Defense University of Pakistan. The event at the Pakistani embassy was attended by senior State Department and Pentagon officials.
?We want this relationship to be grounded in realistic expectations, respect for each other?s sovereignty, appreciation of each other?s legitimate security interests and understanding of each other?s redlines. Similarly, both sides
need to be aware of each other?s limitations and constraints,? the ambassador said of the ties, strained by a series of incidents last year.
Her remarks came as Islamabad and Washington looked at ways to reset relations in the light of Pakistani parliamentary recommendations, a result of the November 26, 2011 Nato strikes on Salala check posts, which killed 24 Pakistani
soldiers and plunged the bilateral relationship to the lowest point in the last decade. Pakistan and the United States are engaged in the challenging choreography of reconfiguring the bilateral relationship to make it ?more transparent and sustainable,? the
 ambassador noted.
Pakistan?s Parliament has made history by taking charge of spelling out Pakistan?s ?concerns, priorities and redlines,? she said. ?We hope to use this framework as the foundation for a healthier, more sustainable and mutually cooperative
relationship with the United States.? Islamabad, she said, considers the Pakistan-US relationship as one of the most important in the world and desires to strengthen it.

<title>No compromise on Nuclear programmes; says Gilani</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/qxigKl-5n8Q/</link>
<description>In quite a clear-cut message, Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that there would be no compromise on nuclear deterrents, saying the parliamentary review process was an unprecedented development and marks a new landmark in the progress along the path of democracy.
The Prime Minister while addressing a meeting of the Defence Committee of the Cabinet (DCC), reviewed the recommendations made by the Parliamentary Committee of National Security (PCNS) which were recently passed unanimously by the joint-session of the Parliament.
He acknowledged the significance of ties with the US, saying that Pakistan was looking for ties with the US on basis of mutual respect. He observed, ?Pak-US relations are all set to take a new course and we would put our sovereignty above all other considerations in its relations with the US?.
The premier asserted that the Parliament had categorically made its point that there would be partnerships with the America but not at the cost of country?s sovereignty.
The ties with the US/NATO/ISAF were put on hold until parliament took a clear position on how to proceed forward under the new terms of engagement, he added.
The premier said the parliamentary review and guidance would not only help strengthen the hands of the government in dealing with the international community but also give public ownership to foreign and security policies.
On basis of the exceptional opportunity offered by the parliament, Pakistan could set right its bilateral relationship with the US on the basis of mutual respect and mutual interest, he commented.
He observed, ?The message from parliament ? yes to partnership but not at the cost of our sovereignty, carefully calibrates the road map of the engagement. We now need to move beyond review adding that during the course of the concluding debate he assured the House that it will be his government?s endeavor to implement parliament?s recommendations with regard to our foreign and security policies both in letter and spirit?.
All the three heads of armed forces, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Khalid Shamim Waen, Director General Military Operations Major Gen Ashfaq Nadeem and DG ISI Lieutenant Gen Zaheerul Islam were also present.
At the outset? the meeting offered prayers for safety of those trapped under avalanche in Giyari. It also prayed for success of the rescue operation.

<title>US may withdraw, financial aid should continue; Karzai</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/ofrS17jjFU4/</link>
<description>US may withdraw, financial aid should continue; Karzai
Kabul: (Tuesday, April 17, 2012) Afghan President Hamid Karzai said today that after withdrawal of its forces in 2014, the USA should pay at least $ 2 billion a year for Afghanistan?s security expenditure.
The Afghan president was of the view that the US should specify in a partnership agreement to be signed between the two countries for how much money will it provide to Afghanistan after its forces would leave the country.
Addressing the professors and students in Kabul, he said, ?They (US) say we will give you money, but will not specify the amount. We say give us less, but write it down.?
?We want them to write down that America will give for Afghanistan?s security $ 2 billion a year ? or at least two billion a year if they want to give us more, they are welcome.?
Karzai?s demand for sustained monetary aid has come forward after a day he laid the blame for an 18-hour assault by squads of Taliban insurgents in Kabul on intelligence failure of the NATO forces.
Slamming the allied forces? ability to contain Taliban from attacking at will, the Afghan president had said, ?The terrorists? infiltration in Kabul and other provinces is an intelligence failure for us and especially for NATO
 and should be seriously investigated.?
According to the news emanating from the country, the 130,000-strong contingent of the NATO forces is to end ten-year long war and to return by the end of 2014. In the backdrop of this scenario, the US and the Afghan government
is in negotiations about their future relations.

<title>US to continue to press Pakistan for operation against Haqqani network</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/gBnvvkIQW2M/</link>
<description>In quick response of Sunday?s Kabul attacks, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that the United States will continue to press Pakistan to launch an operation against the Haqqani network, as signs emerged it might be behind the assaults.
According to a statement issued by the State Department on Monday, Hillary Clinton spoke to Pakistan?s foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar about their shared responsibility to confront terrorists.
In one of the most serious assaults on the capital in the past decade, Afghanistan?s Taliban attacked Kabul on Sunday with heavy explosions, rockets and gunfire.
The statement said that the two leaders discussed in detail the cowardly attacks in Afghanistan. It observed, ??(Clinton) underscored our shared responsibility for robust action ? to confront and defeat terrorists and violent extremists?.
Victoria Nuland, the spokesperson of State Department said that the US Secretary of State, who is currently visiting Brazil, discussed upcoming policy in the US-Pakistan dialogue following the conclusion of a Pakistani parliamentary review.
According to her, Clinton recalled that she had pressed Pakistan to squeeze the Haqqani network when she had visited Islamabad October 2011. She continued that the US will continue to make point and pres it hard.
There were already indications of Haqqani?s involvement in the deadliest attacks as it was a very determined foe of Americans, she added.
She said that she expressed strong conviction with Hina Rabbani Khar that there had to be concerted efforts and commitment in combating terrorism. In her view, such attempts must involve the NATO-led forces in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Earlier, the Pentagon said a major attack on Afghan government buildings, military installments and foreign embassies was likely carried out by Haqqani militants who operate in bordering area of Pakistan.
Press Secretary George Little commented, ?Initial indications are that the Haqqani network was involved in this set of attacks that occurred yesterday in Kabul?.
According to him, the 18-hour long battle was well-coordinated. He, however, appraised the role of Afghan security forces, saying they quelled the onslaught with great effort.
He said it was not surprising that attackers ambushed with an advent of spring, as fighting usually escalate in the season.

<description>Hvordan kunne det ske?
