Whitewashed brands in their purest form.

If you can recognize a product without its visual identity, you can talk about a brand that has done something right! Brands worldwide use thousand of dollars branding their products in all kind of ways, TV commercials, outdoor marketing, viral marketing, print marketing and so on. But in the end, all that can be thrown out the window if the customer in the buying situation, does not recognize the product they are selling, or remember it from somewhere.

A branding, design, and communications strategist, Andrew Miller has taken this problem and twisted it by making a project called ?Brand Spirit?. The project consists of him taking a new product every day for 100 day and removing the visual branding from it by whitewashing it. The products for the project, can be objects that he owns, objects that is been giving to him or objects he buys for less than 10$.
His describes him selves like this: ?I work by day as a strategic agent of change at Carbone Smolan Agency, I study by night at the SVA Master?s in Branding program, and I?m on a perpetual quest for the perfect burger.?
Here are some examples of some of the products he has painted white:

I very much like the project and i find it exciting to see the products that you know and think of in a certain way, striped down to a white form that actually could have been made by any brand. I also think that the white paint shows the truth of the product ? is it really something good? Or is it just some plastic? It?s like it can?t hide any more. If you are as intrigued as I am you can check the project out on his Tumblr.
He still has a long way to go until he reach the 100 objects, so you and I can follow his progress to see how far he takes it. It could be even more interesting.

Our hopes of taking the Fisker Atlantic for a spin next year just got dampened considerably: a big document leak has revealed that the more reasonably-priced alternative to the Karma won’t be rolling off the production lines en masse until mid-2014, a year later than we’d expected. Thanks in part to a factory overhaul, the only Atlantics rolling on their hybrid-powered wheels in mid-2013 will be prototypes. On the upside, we’ve learned more about the car itself, including a fairly brisk 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds courtesy of a 300HP-equivalent motor

The final significant roadblock to Google’s buyout of Motorola has been cleared, as Chinese regulators have just given their rubber stamp. Their approval follows a few months after the simultaneous American and European clearances, and virtually all that’s left now is to formally close the deal and start integrating the two mobile giants

LTE networks occupying the 800MHz spectrum could cause some serious interference ( sound familiar ?), capable of knocking out around two million households’ free terrestrial TV channels.
