<title>Hussain Haqqani refused to return to Pakistan</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/-ITcRA0xUwU/</link>
<description>Former Pakistan?s ambassador to the United States, Hussain Haqqani refused to return home, saying that such a scenario was not possible until the atmosphere cooled for him.
While interviewing to CNN he stated, ?I will not go back to Pakistan for the moment. Purely because there are elements there who have been threatening my life?.
Quoting the killing of former Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer at the hands of his own guard, he said it was better for him to stay until such time as the ideologically motivational hateful rhetoric against him is ended.
The former envoy pointed out that whatever advantages and benefits Pakistan gains from NATO supplies, it will not last forever, hammering out terms for resuming the supply-line for allied forces battling in Afghanistan.
He observed, ?Pakistanis have to wake up to the fact that whatever advantages they have as the ground line of communication (GLOCs) provider, that advantage is not going to last forever?.
In his view, Pakistan needs to crack down on these extremists for the country?s sake, as more Pakistanis have been killed by them then they have killed foreigners. Pakistan will be haunted by the remnants after withdrawal of the NATO forces from Afghanistan, he added.
Haqqani was of the opinion that key point remained a gap of trust deficit between the two states and a reduced space within Pakistan to openly discuss pragmatic aspects of the troubled bilateral ties.
He asserted, ?We just want to blame our neighbors, our enemies. But we don?t want to take account of what?s wrong at home?.
The former ambassador chose an interesting analogy saying they do not want India to create a kind of presence in Afghanistan that the America would not have tolerated if the Soviets created it in Mexico in the Cold War.
Proposing honesty as the only solution of all the problems, he said Pakistan needs to discuss its relations with the US honestly and openly within its society, instead of allowing a small group of people ideologically motivated and seeking essentially the domination of an Islamist ideology within Pakistan, but unable to get votes.
In his view, nothing comes out of it when domestic politics of the US and Pakistan often come in the form of clash.

Sacred Waters: Snorkelling Expidition In Mayan Cenote
Cenote-Diving-Riviera-Maya
The Yucatan Peninsula in Southern Mexico is a dry place. Flat as a pancake, housing no rivers and with only few swampy lakes, the jungle somehow managed to sustain one of the biggest and most advanced civilizations of its time. How exactly did the Mayans live for so long in this area without succumbing to drought resulting from lack of healthy potable water? The answer, quite simply, is the cenotes.
&amp;nbsp;
Mayan Cenote
From the Mayan word ts?onot, meaning well, the cenotes are the exposed surfaces of underground water systems, often revealed in a form similar to sinkholes ? basically big circular pools of water. Apparently the Yucatan is home to the biggest single underwater cave system in the world, thanks to the fact that the entire peninsula is essentially sitting on a large layer of soluble limestone. These cave systems often make their way to the surface and thus the cenotes are revealed.
Interestingly, there are theories that the cenotes were originally formed 65 million years ago from the impact of the Chicxulub asteroid; that being the impact that caused the mass extinction of the dinosaurs and marked the transition from the Cretaceous Period to the Tertiary Period, otherwise known as the K-T Boundary. The asteroid smashed into the north-western portion of the Yucatan and remains to this day one of the largest impact craters on earth. There is a higher-than-normal concentration of cenotes around what would have been the lip of the crater, and this formation has been dubbed the ?Ring of Cenotes?.
Regardless of their conception, the simple fact is that the Mayan culture would have been unable to flourish without the influence of the cenotes, and this is evident in the important roles they played in the ancient culture. They were often revered by the Mayans and were certainly central to a number of influential religious ceremonies. Today the cenotes are a major tourist attraction, not just for their history but also for the numerous activities that they offer.
Our first cenote experience was in the town of Valladolid, found near the centre of the Yucatan Peninsula. Cenote Zaci is found a short
Mayan Cenote
walk from the city centre and so provided an easy way of sampling the sacred waters. A quick stoop through an open cave suddenly opened out into a huge pit at least fifty feet below us, green water filled with swimming tourists. The pool was half covered under a cave roof complete with stalactites and bats and the jungle leaned in over the water. An artificially constructed walkway was cut into the stone around the cenote and provided ample viewing platforms. The scale of the cenote was larger than we both expected and I found it surprisingly majestic, although the water itself didn?t look overly clean.
Our next glimpse of a cenote occurred a few days later when we visited the ruins of Chichen Itza. Known as the Sacred Cenote, it is the very reason that the ancient city sprang up in this particular place, and also the subject of some very dark rumours. Legend has it that the Mayans used to throw virgins into the cenote as a sacrifice to the gods, chucking them in at dawn and returning at dusk. If the virgin was still alive after treading water all day then she would be hauled out to make prophetic observations regarding crops and weather. The truth of these stories is hotly debated but it cannot be ignored that an inordinate amount of skeletons have been pulled up from the depths of the Sacred Cenote.
Our final cenote experience was by far the most memorable as it gave us an opportunity to snorkel and dive through an underwater cave system just north of Tulum. I first decided to do this prior to leaving Australia after watching the wondrous segment on BBC?s Planet Earth documentary, where they dived in Dos Ojos. It showed a remarkable underwater landscape and I longed to experience it for myself.
Mayan Cenote
At Tulum we decided to travel to the nearby Hidden Worlds adventure park for our snorkel adventure, primarily because it has access to the Dos Ojos system. From the main foyer area we walked about five hundred metres or so into the jungle to arrive at a small sign and shelves, next to what was essentially a deep hole in the ground. We stripped down, put on our life jackets and were guided down into the hole, where it descended about thirty feet into a cold and dank cave.
The first thing we noticed was the sharp drop in temperature. Above ground it was stiflingly hot and humid, whereas thirty feet underground the air was dank and chilly. We walked hesitantly along a plank of wood to the waters edge, where we dipped a toe in to receive an unwelcome but not unsurprising shock ? the water was absolutely freezing. Nevertheless we waded in with our shorts and swimmers, following our guide who was in a full wetsuit, to begin our snorkelling tour.
What followed was an hour of the most amazing experiences that I have yet encountered. The scenery was breathtaking ? floodlights illuminated crystal clear water, revealing spectacular rocky formations as well as ominous underwater caverns that darkened away into the depths. It would have been quite eerie if not for the keen sense of wonder that I felt as I floated around.
Unfortunately Renee did not fare quite as well, and indeed the deeper areas ? and the unknown that they hid ? caused her some concern. I can understand why, especially when we arrived at a long and narrow section where the lights had stopped working. We made our way through by touch, a faint illumination ahead the only reference point, the darkness around us nearly palpable in its entirety and the only sounds Renee?s shallow and rapid breath. We emerged unscathed though into another spacious cavern to marvel at the rocks around us and the multitude of Glow Worms that hung from the ceiling, before reluctantly returning to the surface.
Three cenotes, three different experiences. They are truly wondrous in their diversity, and I thoroughly recommend experiencing as many as you can. The snorkelling was without a doubt the highlight and I can only imagine how amazing it would be to dive these caverns. If I was to ever get my diving license, there is no doubt that I would return to Dos Ojos to be amazed all over again.

Hidden Worlds Cenote  Park In Xel-ha, Mexico
&amp;nbsp;
Mayan Cenote
The caverns, called cenotes, that envelop one the world?s longest systems of underground waterways are gaining in popularity, and with good reason. These natural wonders stretching across the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico are some of the most beautiful places you can explore. Visitors are invited to dive deep into these freshwater sinkholes, that are chock full of stalagmites, stalactites, and other rock formations. Exploring the area can be done in a number of ways. At Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park, guides are available to lead adventurers of all ages through the dense tropical forest and into the caves.
Many choose to start with snorkeling, getting their feet wet and whetting their appetite for more. These tours are held throughout the day and are designed to be enjoyed by the whole family. No previous experience is necessary. Dives are also arranged for certified open water divers who wish to explore deep within the cenotes. The maximum depth of the water is 30 feet, and divers are never more than 150 feet from air. You can enjoy 1,500 feet of cavern without ever leaving the light zone. The natural beauty of the cave formations and the clear blue water cause visitors to reflect on the awesome natural forces that have been the cause of this phenomenon. Outside the caves a 600 foot zip line allows you to get a good look at the canopy from the air, and travel throughout the forest with ease.
&amp;nbsp;
Mayan Cenote
Perhaps the most appealing option for many is the Sky Cycle. This two and a half hour adventure takes riders through the high jungle canopy, down through a short section of natural cave, and finally through a cenote that is overflowing with green palms and exotic plants. The whole time, riders are suspended on a steel cable and can pedal at their own pace. The circuit is a kilometer long, and there is a pause halfway through the trek. Here, at the Tak-Bi-Luum cenote visitors have the chance to don snorkel gear and life jackets and take a swimming tour of this underground river. The crystal clear freshwater, combined with the remarkable cave formations is truly a remarkable sight.
Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park is dedicated to providing visitors with a real jungle experience. Although it is a popular vacation destination, it is not overrun with tour buses and souvenir shops. The main focus of the park and its staff is to lead you through the jungle, and help you to appreciate the natural beauty of the area.

El Eden Cenote

This beautiful Cenote also know as Ponderosa is located 25km south of Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. It offers an amazing swimming/snorkel area in the middle of the dense Mexican jungle. It is a divers dream world with sensational rays of light beaming down through the water before mid day. Most of the dive is accompanied by views of the jungle above the cenote. The halocline is located around 10m and makes for an optical illusion when the fresh and salt waters mix. El Eden also offers cave diving interconnecting with some of the nearby Cenotes. All and all another one of the amazing cavern dives in the Mayan Riviera.

            <link>http://www.skleroseramt.dk/laesekreds/perlen/</link>
            <description>Perlen

<title>Cameron Munter likely to be replaced with Richard Oslo</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/UyTz1rSN3wc/</link>
<description>Cameron Munter, the US ambassador to Pakistan, is likely to be replaced with Richard Oslo in the upcoming summer season after the former refused to take extension for another term.
According to the media reports, Cameron Munter will quit his post in the coming summer.
The US is mulling to appoint Richard Oslo, who has engineered US development and economic affairs in Afghanistan, hoping to improve dismal relations with Islamabad at a crucial time for its war against terrorism.
The White House will formally propose the name of Olson while the Senate will confirm the posting. The White House, however, refused to confirm or reject the report.
Olson is a senior US diplomat and had served for his country at different key posts. He joined the U.S. Department of State in 1982 and has served in Mexico, Uganda, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates and in Najaf, Iraq.
Ahead of returning to the UAE he served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the United States Mission to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
The new assignment will be a tough task for Oslo as Pakistan and the United States are going through difficult phase their relationship because the former has blocked NATO supplies to Afghanistan due to incursion on Salala check-post that killed 24 Pakistani troops in last November.
Cameron Munter was appointed as ambassador to Pakistan in October 2010 and has gone through a period of unprecedented turbulence and suspicion between the duo states.
Among the many bilateral crises in the last one and a half years included Pakistan?s apprehension of a CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) contractor Raymond Davis in early 2011; the top-secret US Special Forces raid that killed Osama bin Laden in garrison town of Abbottabad; and Pakistanis? objection over ongoing US drone attacks in Tribal Areas.
The US police also shifted toward Pakistan in recent tenure of Cameron Munter. Due to two-sided mistrust and frustration, high level visits and massive civil and military aid have slowly been overtaken.
Although the expected nomination of Olson does not appear to represent a change to US policy toward Pakistan, it could allow a fresh start after a dark period.

            <link>http://da.globalvoicesonline.org/2012/05/3104</link>

Journalisten Katia D&amp;#39;Artigues (@kdartigues) reflekterede over den smertefulde mindedag:
Twitter-brugeren @lafalconielsa udtrykte sine følelser over for aktivisten:

            <description>

Guadalajara-based architects Hernandez Silva Arquitectos recently designed the interior of a new penthouse situated on top of a 1970s Mexican colonial building in Guadalajara, México. A notable feature of the home is a powder room situated atop an unused 15-story elevator shaft.
&amp;#8220;A characteristic feature of the project is that a volume that was originally intended for a second elevator and was never installed becomes a powder room with a glass floor that looks down all the 15 levels, the PPDG penthouse is a great versatile modulated space, with great views all this with the concepts of transparency and the simplicity of materials&amp;#8221;, Hernandez Silva Arquitectos says.
