Sometimes in business we have a vision; yet, in our quest to capture, to attain the image, we wrestle with the reality of the situation.  It happens.  Otherwise, every business that ever started would flourish.  That&amp;#8217;s a beautiful vision, pile-driven by the reality of business.
&amp;nbsp;
How can you better gauge whether your vision is coming to fruition?  Admittedly, I&amp;#8217;m not a numbers person.  I don&amp;#8217;t like TI-80?anythings, and statistics was not one of my favorite classes in college.  However, I do respect and understand the importance of data.  The data is the wake-up call, allowing you to see how well reality superimposes itself on original vision.
&amp;nbsp;
Analytics
Many business owners don&amp;#8217;t want to get their hands dirty with computers.  I understand. I had to catch-up myself in my college years.  I didn&amp;#8217;t grow up with computers like the youth of today.  They&amp;#8217;ll be in good shape regarding online business.  At present, many of you are a bit intimidated.  Additionally, if you can pay for someone to check analytics for you, then you don&amp;#8217;t have to be bothered, right?
&amp;nbsp;
Sure, you can find marketing companies to track and make decisions based on your analytics; but, I really suggest the notion of stepping out of your comfort zone a bit; I know; it&amp;#8217;s not an appealing notion; but, think about it.
&amp;nbsp;
I read a good post by a peer earlier today on the topic of putting in more time, going all the way when it comes to your passion and profession.  I really celebrate that.
&amp;nbsp;
Take a look at this Google support page.  Look at all the questions you should be asking regarding your site analytics and marketing campaign.  Wouldn&amp;#8217;t you rather have a better understanding of analytics so you can answer those questions yourself?  Marketers know marketing, but who knows your business better than you?  If it&amp;#8217;s not you, then maybe that person should steer the ship.
&amp;nbsp;
It&amp;#8217;s time to stop being hands-off regarding your online marketing campaign.  Is your business your passion?  Have you decided to offer your business online?  Then you need to engage just as always.
&amp;nbsp;
It&amp;#8217;s your business.  Start thinking analytically (yes, I choose the topic of &amp;#8216;analytics&amp;#8217; to make you start thinking more practically, more analytically about your online efforts.  I enjoy punning.)  Don&amp;#8217;t leave things &amp;#8216;up to the experts.&amp;#8217;  Be an expert regarding your business in all its facets offline and online.
&amp;nbsp;
With outsourcing comes deep responsibility.  The advantage of having others do something so you can focus on your business is understood; but, that by no means should give you license to take a hands-off approach to your business.  Get involved and stay involved.  It&amp;#8217;s your vision quest; do your part in making it a reality.

The last two weeks have been an incredibly stressful time for every web-focused company. Between Facebook&amp;#8217;s recent woes concerning its IPO and General Motors pulling out of its in-network marketing, there&amp;#8217;s been more than a little bit of uncertainty in the SEO and online marketing communities as of late. Many of our readers no doubt have their own growing concerns over the state of all-things social media and search engine-related. While current events may have everyone second guessing the viability of their social network strategies, in truth there is no reason to panic.
What about Facebook?
Anyone who watches major news network programming or reads the latest headlines will be familiar with the immense amount of criticism falling on Facebook at the moment. Over the course of the last seven days, Facebook&amp;#8217;s underwhelming stock performance has led to a lot of serious questions regarding the effectiveness of the company&amp;#8217;s in-network ads as well as whether its mobile efforts will pay off in the end. It&amp;#8217;s gotten to the point where even notable SEO experts are making similar inquiries.
Although Facebook&amp;#8217;s future is uncertain, that doesn&amp;#8217;t mean that businesses should shy away from the social media site here and now. Many of the arguments taking place between pundits over Facebook are based on speculation, and the possible outcomes of these predictions won&amp;#8217;t come to pass for months or years to come. While it&amp;#8217;s easy to fall prey to the sort of fear-mongering that is common to network television, small business owners need to remember that FB will continue to be a valuable asset to their online marketing efforts.
How is that Done?
If anything, companies operating on Facebook should be focusing less on their in-network PPC campaigning and more on building up a solid social media following. The world&amp;#8217;s most popular social network recently hit the 900 million user mark, and this milestone shouldn&amp;#8217;t go ignored. In particular, business owners will want to remain dedicated in their efforts to expand the size of their follower base while simultaneously engaging those users that subscribe to their news feeds. This can be done in a number of ways:

Search for groups or organizations that may share interests that match what your company specializes in. Do what you can to interact with their members and gain their attention.
Post original and interesting content that is worth reading. This can be done by posting links to blogs and other company properties that may host these materials.
Comment on breaking industry news that has everyone talking. Users will often take the time to add their thoughts to these posts if they are asked for their opinion.

Despite Facebook&amp;#8217;s current predicament, the fact is that the social network still has every bit of impact it had before the company went public. The only difference is the amount of discussion taking place at the moment.             <title>FIF ? Har du Fugt I Fundamentet?</title>

            <description>I min verden er SEO et kæmpe omdrejningspunkt. Jeg mener faktisk, at  alle virksomheder, store som små, bør have en SEO strategi. Det er ikke nødvendigvis det samme som at sige, at alle virksomheder skal bruge penge på SEO, da det også kan være en strategi at fravælge det til fordel for andre ting.
Nu er virkeligheden bare den, at langt fra alle virksomheder har en strategi for SEO, og jeg kan godt forstå dem! For de som ikke er vant til at arbejde med søgemaskiner, hjemmesider, online markedsføring, sociale medier osv., må det være et forvirrende og meget uigennemsigtigt marked at finde rundt i. 
Mange siger noget forskelligt. Nogle siger det samme. De færreste gør det samme eller gør hvad de rent faktisk siger man bør gøre..??!! 
Dette bliver krydret med søgemaskinernes konstante ændringer som Panda og Penguin samt et kæmpe fokus på alt det nye som sker, som eksempelvis hvilken indflydelse de sociale medier har på SEO? Content marketing er brandvarmt og nu skal vi også forholde os til negativ SEO. 
Forvirret? 
Et stærkt fundament
Uanset om du er helt ny eller en dreven hund indenfor SEO, så er det vigtigt at fokusere på fundamentet. Man kan let komme til at defokusere i den daglige strøm af opdateringer og nyheder fra SEO verdenen, men får du først fugt i fundamentet, får du problemer.. 
Hører du også til dem som følger en masse gode blogs? Guderne skal vide at jeg gør, og det har taget mig tid at bygge en liste op over dygtige mennesker, som deler ud af deres guldkorn. Jeg henter en masse inspiration her, holder mig opdateret og deler erfaringer. Udfordringen er at skelne mellem vigtige nyheder og opdateringer fra SEO verdenen, gode og veldokumenterede tips og tricks og alt det ligegyldige fyld. Ellers kan det blive et fuldtidsjob at læse blogindlæg, artikler, følge interessante folk på Twitter, kommentere osv. 
Men hvad gør man så, for man er jo nødt til at holde sig opdateret? Hvor skal man overhovedet starte, og hvordan bruger man sin tid bedst muligt?
Man fokuserer på fundamentet! 
Det handler simpelthen om at få optimeret de vigtigste områder på sit website og heldigvis er det ikke så mystisk og svært, som nogle gerne vil have det til at fremstå. Det kan være fristende at kaste sig over rich snippets, nytænkende link building strategier, UX osv., og jeg siger ikke, at dette ikke er vigtige områder! Jeg siger bare, at mange virksomheder bør fokusere på, at få styr på det fundamentale SEO først. Styrke fundamentet så huset ikke vælter, når det bliver stormvejr (eller når det bliver angrebet af livsfarlige dyr som pandaer og pingviner). 
Kedeligt? Ja, for de fleste! Ensformigt? Ja! Men du kan trøste dig med, at når først dit stærke fundament er bygget op, kan du bruge tiden på noget af det mere sjove. Så maler vi huset, sætter nye vinduer i, laver et nyt tag og inviterer vennerne over til BBQ.

There is news from Google every day. There is news regarding their search, advances in their other offerings, or rulings in their pending legal matters. Regardless of the type of content, there is a constant stream of information and for those tracking these developments on a daily basis like we do here; it is simply a lot about one company. But, there is some news here that I&amp;#8217;ll touch on today that shows a different side of the dominant global search engine &amp;#8211; the charitable corporate social responsibility side.
Google has made the decision to offer financing for computer teachers as well as technological teaching aids such as the Raspberry Pi and the Arduino starter kits. In support of an effort to boost technology education in the country, Google is partnering with Teach First to put &amp;#8220;dozens&amp;#8221; of computer science teachers to work throughout England. Eric Schmidt, Google&amp;#8217;s chairman spoke out recently outlining Google&amp;#8217;s involvement. Teach First is an organization that puts high-performing graduates into a training program and then place them into schools teach their computer studies courses for two years. In terms of impact, the funds will support over 100 science teachers and most of them will teach computer science.
This represents some relevant CSR and charitable work from Google. Pushing for more computer-based training to provide more opportunities for young people to be exposed to computer engineering, programing, and the like, is a valid investment for the future. This is not the first such support from Google for charitable and cultural engagements and with so much in the news about them, it is important to note such activity as well.
I wrote previously about other CSR activity from Google in a previous post where I describe the uniqueness of tech firms, internet marketing agencies, SEO companies, and other internet businesses engaging in such activity. The previous post touched on the Google Cultural Institute and how they gave funding for the multimedia Nelson Mandela Digital Archive project. Whether tech Tech or not, it is important for business to find ways to positively impact those they can.

What do you think about when you hear of an &amp;#8216;entrepreneur&amp;#8217;?  Most of us are immediately impressed, imagining a Mark Zuckerberg or Wall Street tycoon; but, what about the scores of entrepreneurs you never heard about?  Sure, there are those kinds too!  Where do entrepreneurs in the making go to accelerate their chances of becoming a Zuckerberg?  They go to &amp;#8216;accelerators,&amp;#8217; businesses such as Y Combinator and TechStars, two of the most popular startup-training/seeding hubs; yet the WSJ observes more than 200-plus existing businesses worldwide.
Within 12-week programs, aspirants are offered seed funding and intimate counseling in exchange for about 6% equity stake.  Applicants are abundant (sometimes more than 1,500 apply for only 12 spots.)  The success rate is not, which makes some wonder whether such &amp;#8216;accelerators&amp;#8217; are actually beneficial.  Moreover, some question whether these businesses are taking hopefuls for a ride.
One member of a private community of tech professionals urges entrepreneurs to research the accelerators first.  Many times, accelerators will pump hopefuls full of promise of receiving funding; however, many accelerators lack the resources to catapult their students to stardom.  Critics say the best accelerators take no more than 10% of a startup&amp;#8217;s equity.
Additionally, some observe how accelerators business models are formed to profit regardless of how students fare:
If an accelerator gives $25,000 in capital to participants, takes a 5% equity stake, and graduates 40 companies in a year, it can break even if just one gets acquired for $20 million, even if the other 39 fail.
A director at a VC firm found that 45% of 29 North American accelerators didn&amp;#8217;t have graduates that went on to recruit funding.  Professionals warn that success is slim even regarding the top programs (only 0.1% of firms, less than five years old receive seed or early-funding money from VCs).
Entrepreneurs beware; most accelerators are established as seed funds, making them easy and cheap to create.  The accelerators make revenue when a startup is acquired, goes public, or sells stakes to a venture investor.
It seems like most elements of business, startups need to approach accelerators with due diligence and understand the odds are against them.  Does it mean startups shouldn&amp;#8217;t give it a go?  Not at all; but, startups (especially) need to mind their scarce financial resources.

Google Authorship is your way of claiming ownership of content on the web. Authorship results have been on the rise and page results with proper Authorship markup have been shown to increase click-through rates (CTR). Why? Most likely because people are drawn to people and tend to look where a person looks within an image.

But as a writer, you probably don&amp;#8217;t write for just your website. And if a website that you contribute to is not marked up properly, you may not be getting the credit you deserve for everything you write.
Not to worry though. There is a solution that also provides you with a unique opportunity to create new relationships. As long as the websites you write for allow you to post a link in your author profile profile, you can create the connection between your content and your Google Plus identity.
I spoke at an SEOmoz Meetup in Philadelphia recently about some of my theories on Google Authorship, specifically about HTML5. After further testing, even though the rel=author tag is HTML5, the relationship between the Google Plus profile and the author&amp;#8217;s content may actually be the determining factor in whether or not a page can display author information.
