            <title>John Banville: Havet</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Bogtips/~3/On6wrLWF9e8/john-banville-havet.html</link>

<title>The best inexpensive tablets in the market</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/-UB47NOWjBo/</link>
<description>Amazon introduced the first tablet to the world in 2007 with a slate-like structure. However, in the beginning its sole purpose was to facilitate in reading books and journals. Apple followed the suit in quick succession and rolled out their first colourful tablet in 2010 called the iPad. Now-a-days, tablets are not only the best option for reading but for movies and music as well, especially on the go.
Samsung recently announced their low-cost trickled-down tablet Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. The slate has a price tag of $250 MSRP in the US. However, its final price in the Asian markets is yet to be determined.
Due to its low price and colourful screen, the tablet is touted to be a successful gadget in the market. However, there is one problem. There is this tablet from the pioneers, Amazon that has been giving a hard time to the likes of almost everybody since its launch last year. Amazon released the cheapest Android tablet of 2011, the Kindle Fire in October, and since then the device has been running hot streak in the circles that like cheap alternatives to reading print books and expensive media players.
Kindle Fire is worth a mere $199 and it boasts a colourful LCD screen with WiFi connectivity. Along with the internet connectivity, the Kindle Fire brings a slew of services and packages on Amazon?s own ecosystem.
The cloud services are the ones that have made the Kindle Fire a successful device in the market. The likes of Tab 2 7.0 and Barnes and Noble?s Nook Tablet all lack the integrated services that Amazon offers on its flagship tablet.
Nook Tablet was released at the same time as Kindle Fire and incorporates the same dimensions as its closest peer but it lacks the same services that Amazon offers to its Kindle Fire in the shape of Prime membership.
This is one of the biggest problems that likes of Nook and Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 have to cater to, in order to compete with a strong competitor in the shape of Kindle Fire.

<title>The best inexpensive tablets as e-Readers</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/a51scCjM3FA/</link>
<description>Barnes and Noble introduced their latest edition of Nook series in fall 2011. However, despite being one of the cheapest tablets in the world, it could not cope with the unprecedented success of Kindle Fire. The same is expected to happen with Samsung?s latest release of Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, which was released in April, 2012.
The reason for the Nook and Tab 2?s failure is twofold. One, they are at least $50 expensive than the Fire and second, they do not have Amazon?s clouding facilities.
Apple offers its users iTunes, App Store and iCloud to facilitate them with services varying from books to apps to movies to songs. Amazon tows the same line, with an ecosystem that offers a host of Android apps in addition to movies, songs and books.
Kindle started culture of e-readers with the first Kindle in 2007. This opened a Pandora ?s Box and many companies including Apple followed with their own versions of tablets. However, still Amazon leads to race with a vast book bank and a membership that is becoming a bigger threat to other technology companies by the day.
Amazon offers Prime membership to its Kindle users. The membership offers a host of different services including the most intimidating to Amazon competitors, book lending.  For $79 a year Kindle users can borrow lots and lots of e-books on Kindle for free, without extra charges.
This is the most threatening to other competitors like Nook and Galaxy Tab 2 7.0. Although the Android app on these tablets offer the book lending services but that is not without extra charges.
If that is less frightening, than the screen quality is. Kindle Fire, despite being the cheapest among the 3, Nook Tablet, Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and Kindle Fire, sports the best display quality. Nook has lower resolution than Kindle Fire whereas Tab 2 7.0 has a yellow tint on the screen.
Moreover, the Fire?s textured back gives the users a firm feel while reading a book, where as Tab 2?s rounded back is more slippery to hold.
As a reader?though with a limited 8 GB storage capacity?Kindle Fire is undisputedly the winner against Nook and Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.

<title>The best inexpensive tablets as media devices ? Part 1</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/cYXuqMOZw6I/</link>
            <description>&amp;nbsp;

Although the current tablet culture started as an e-reader when Amazon released its first Kindle in 2007, these devices have now become more than that, thanks to Apple?s iPad. The Cupertino-based company released the first iPad in 2010 and in addition to being an e-reader, the slate was a perfect replacement of laptops in terms of movies and music.
Amazon followed the suit in a quick succession and a year later, out came the Kindle Fire, with most impressive $199 price tag. For such a pocket money price, the tablet offered a reader, music and video player and a camera at the back. The Kindle soon became the perfect example of a media hub under a $200 cap.
Though Kindle has a 7-inch screen, which is quite small as compared to iPad?s 9.6-inch display, the most amazing is ecosystem that fuels up Kindle Fire?s spark. Amazon?s strength does not lay in its price or screen but services it provides to its customers.
Although Amazon?s Android apps are available for other tablets and iOS app for iPad, but the Prime membership it offers to its Kindle customers is the icing best served only by Amazon. Along with a host of e-books available on Amazon?s store, the vast pool of movies, TV shows and music is one of best attraction to the Kindle users.
The Android-based Flash player available for non-Kindle users is good in general functioning but there are some features that Amazon has reserved for Kindle only.
The Prime membership offers loads of services to Kindle users. Other Android tablet users can stream videos?TV shows and movies?but they are unable to download them on their tablets.

            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/pmlEueqskeE/</link>
<description>On the other hand, a Kindle user can stream a video and can also download it on the device for no extra charges. Non-Kindle users have to pay extra to purchase the movies and TV shows on their tablets.
Moreover, Prime membership holders all this is for free. Though every Kindle user can rent a movie or a TV show or anyother video, the Prime members have the facility to stream and download as many videos they want for free. This is a main attraction to those who can afford to live in Amazon?s ecosystem.
The only shortfall on Kindle?s account is the lack of HD compatibility. Its peers, on the other hand, offer HD video options in their devices via the same Amazon app for Android.
Music has become one of essential features of mobile devices, be it smartphone or a tablet. The use of music players on these devices is often more than any other feature. Amazon saw this as a window of opportunity and though it has a limited memory of 8 GB, it offers its users a vast variety of music.
The Amazon Cloud Player for Android is free and allows you access your stored Amazon cloud music as well as purchase new music. Your music library can then be downloaded or streamed directly from Amazon&amp;#8217;s servers. Of the three major Amazon media experiences, this comparison is definitely the closest in terms of options and interface. The cloud services wear off the shortage of onboard storage.
The only shortcoming in Kindle as compared to other tablets like Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, iPad, Barnes and Noble?s Nook Tablet is the lack of expandable memory, dual cameras and Bluetooth for wireless connectivity.
For some reason unfathomable, Amazon scratched the Bluetooth option from its tablet. There is ony one camera at the back of the device, where other companies are introducing HD cameras both on the front and rear sides.

            <title>Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 (2012): The complete review ? Part 1</title>
            <link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Newspakistanpk/~3/0XLUQFYllh0/</link>
<description>Samsung Electronics launched the new tablet in the 7-inch family, Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, in the same week Apple, Inc. released the new iPad 2012 model. That may be one of the reasons why the 7-incher could not attract media attention.
However, given the time spent with the new device from the Koreans, I would say the new slate is a stunner in many respects, given the it comes with, holding a smaller footprint. The screen is intense and mesmerizingly attractive and it is certainly one of the thinnest in small tablets category.
However, the new Tab 7.7 does not come all Mr. Perfect, it has some flaws, shortcomings and things missing, but all in its appropriate time.
First of all, the dimensions: The new device should shock the world with its state-of-the-art size and depth, given that it contains the sharpest and dense screen any 7-inch or 8-inch display can handle.
When the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus was released last year, I opined that building a really thin 10.1-inch tablet was probably a less arduous task than matching that same thinness on a 7-incher. The Galaxy Tab 7.7, with its 0.7-inch larger screen, reinforces that opinion with a thinner and lighter design than Samsung&amp;#8217;s previous 7-inch effort. Not that I went out on a limb at all by speculating that in the first place. The more surface area you have to work with, the easier it is to spread components around, facilitating a thinner design.

<description>Aesthetically, the Tab 7.7 is like the cooler, slicker cousin of the Tab 7.0 Plus. It is 7.75 inches wide and 5.25 inches high. However, the most amazing part is its depth which is 0.38 inches, just 0.01 inches shy of being the same thin as its cousin. You know the one that gets invited to all the cool parties? The Tab 7.7&amp;#8242;s smooth aluminium back is simply much more visually striking than the Tab 7.0 Plus&amp;#8217; plastic, dark-gray hind part, and the sleek metal gives the Tab 7.7 an additional bit of sexiness over its (likely jealous and hate-filled) big brother.
Beyond that, the two tablets house many of the same features, including a power button, volume rocker, and IR sensor on its top; a headphone jack and mic pinhole on the left side; dual speakers and a universal connection port on the right; and a microSD card slot on the bottom. The Tab 7.7 has a SIM card slot on the bottom as well. As with Samsung&amp;#8217;s other tablets, there&amp;#8217;s no HDMI port, requiring you to purchase an adapter if you want to play video from your tablet on your TV.
The bezel is thinner then 7.0 Plus from last year at 0.68 against the 0.75 inches. However, the camera in the black border is 2-mega pixels, which would be a great deal if it had a good picture and video quality both in bright light and darkness, and if the rear-view camera ?the primary snapper?had been more than 3-mega pixels.

<description>Images and video recorded with the front camera looked as if there were a deliberate film grain placed over it, and not in a cool, artsy kind of way, but more of the, &amp;#8220;Hey, there seems to be some film grain on this video, can we please get rid of it?&amp;#8221; variety. The back camera performed much better, with a smoother and clearer picture that unfortunately saturated colors a bit too much, making everything from skin to plain, gray walls flush with an overabundance of red.
The 720p video playback from outside sources was smooth and crisp; however, try as I might, 1080p video would not play on the tablet.
Tab 7.7 comes with Android Honeycomb 3.2 preinstalled in the device. The tech specs show that this device is more than capable of running Ice Cream Sandwich and as Google?s manifesto goes, all Android devices with dual-core processors will be getting ICS update until the end of this calendar year or maybe in the start of next year. However, neither Samsung nor Google has announced the release of an update to Tab 7.7.
Towing their counterpart in Taiwan, Samsung has developed its own UI, TouchWiz on the top of Android Honeycomb, which comes pre-installed in the device. HTC has got its HTC Sense for Android-based smartphones and tablets.
TouchWiz brings with it many custom Samsung apps like AllShare, Media Hub, Social Hub, and Samsung&amp;#8217;s own curated Android app store called Samsung Apps.
The best feature of TouchWiz is the Mini Apps tray located on the bottom of the screen. Tapping it brings up a tray of apps consisting of a calculator, notes, calendar, music player, and clock. However, the most useful of these is the task manager, which allows you to quickly kill any app running in the background; this comes in handy when apps become otherwise unresponsive.

<description>Another thing that comes pre-installed in the device is Peel?s Smart Remote App that instantly turns the tablet into a television remote control. With an interactive screen it is one of the best apps in the whole lot. This I think is a feature to best iPad and iPhone?s ability to interact with Apple TV. However, that is farfetched given the lack of some features and incompatibility with certain features of the television or satellite receiver. It works through the IR transmitter on the device.
Peel can also take the place of your cable or satellite channel guide and display a list of shows currently playing locally on your cable or satellite provider&amp;#8217;s channels. Go to the currently playing tab and click on a show, and your TV switches to the appropriate channel. At least, that&amp;#8217;s how it works in theory.
Peel does a great job of holding your hand initially through a step-by-step setup wizard. The setup only requires that you know your TV&amp;#8217;s manufacturer name, your cable/satellite provider, and your ZIP code. Thankfully, Peel spares us from having to know any more detailed information; however, be aware that Smart Remote does not work with regular monitors and only TVs or monitor/TV combos.
Once it&amp;#8217;s set up, you can browse shows by category, mark shows as favorites, or prevent shows you&amp;#8217;d rather not see on the list from showing up again. Thankfully, Smart Remote now syncs with over-the-air listings, but its accuracy as to which shows and channels were available to me left a bit to be desired.
The remote app works interactively with the television but when it comes to accuracy, there are certain things you would have to compromise or should consult to the appliance?s own remote control. For example, sometimes the tablet shows that a certain program is on-air on a certain channel. When tuned to that channel, either the channel is not their or there is some other program on that channel, despite the fact that the guide shows a different program.

<description>Navigating the interface took some getting used to, but was easy enough to pick up; however, I took issue with the method by which cable TV screen menus are controlled by the interface. Peel went with a swipe interface that requires you to flick the screen in one of four directions in order to highlight different menus. While this method works and after some time could be gotten used to, I would have much preferred more-direct directional controls.
There are certain features that still need to be addressed For the Tab 7.7 or other Samsung tablets to become synonymous to the universal remote controls. The Hulu and Netflix are still absent in the roster and it would not kill the company to add their guides and app features to the Peel?s Remote app.  Moreover, the range of the remote control application to function seamlessly is limited to 8 feet, which, sort of, cramps the place. I think that should be increased 12 or so feet.
As far as the hardware is concerned, the new Tab 7.7 brings some of the best in the crowd. In the category of small-form-factor tablets, the Tab brings the highest specs in a very thin and stylish chassis. The Tab 7.7 houses Samsung&amp;#8217;s 1.4GHz dual-core Exynos 4210 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. It has 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi support, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, and GPS.
The two speakers on the bottom of the tablet deliver bass-heavy sound that&amp;#8217;s able to reach high volumes without any distortion, or at least none that my ears were able to discern. However, the Tab 7.7&amp;#8242;s don&amp;#8217;t quite get as loud as the Tab Plus 7.0&amp;#8242;s sometimes boisterous speakers.

<description>Rounding out the hardware features are an ambient light sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, and digital compass.
Performance-wise, the device is the best device with a smaller footprint. The hardware works seamlessly with software and the applications launch without any lag time. There was no stutter that I could notice in the device while navigating through widget screens and menus.
The mini app launcher in the TouchWiz brings everything from Calculator to Settings instantly. The heavier applications launch with a slack and waiting. On the other hand, the task manager is at a single tap?s distance to be run. It ready availability comes handy when some app, for some reason, stops responding.
The Tab 7.7 is even smoother when it comes to games. The small footprint never lets you think that the tablet is incapable of doing something that the likes of Transformer Prime from Asus or the iPad can do. The Tab 7.7&amp;#8242;s performance in Riptide GP, a video game normally used for testing the performance of the mobile devices, matched that of the Tab 7.0 Plus. Both tablets use the Exynos 4210 CPU, which in terms of speed hits somewhere between the Tegra 2 and Tegra 3 chips. As such, I noticed a frame rate that was consistently higher than you&amp;#8217;d see on any Tegra 2-based tablet, but without the added effects the game enjoys when running on a Tegra 3.

<description>The 7.7-inch screen is a charm. As mentioned earlier, it is the best screen I have ever seen in a 7-inch category and even all the larger siblings don?t enjoy the same AMOLED technology with such a grace. The resolution is the same as other 7-inchers, though, at 1,280&amp;#215;800 pixels. AMOLED screens are able to reach much deeper black levels and a higher perceived brightness than the conventional LED technology in use by most tablet screens. As a result, the screen pulses with vibrancy and colors practically pop from the screen.
The internet works perfectly in a close WiFi canvas and the uploading and downloading is faster. However, the range can be different for different routers but farther you go from the source less responsive Honeycomb browser becomes.
The 4G connectivity was however, a disappointment as compared to the new iPad 2012. It also is less speedier than the dedicated WiFi loop. However, Tab 7.7 does give an acceptable speed on the 4G network.
Lastly, the price, which is the biggest turn off to the new device despite its aesthetics. In the US, Tab 7.7 is available for $500 on a two-year contract from Verizon Wireless, which is a stretch that nobody would like. The non-contract version, which can be used all over the world is available for $700, which is a lot to pay for a 7-inch slate with a mere 16 GB of storage. However, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is the best choice in small-size tablets with a quality screen.

<link>http://www.sund-figur.dk/det-sunde-vaegttab</link>
            <description>Et sundt vægttab.
&amp;nbsp;
