Den nidobbelte verdensmester på to hjul Valentino Rossi, stiller til start i sæsonpremieren for Kessel Racing i en Ferrari 458 GT3. Rossi kører sammen med sin ven Alessio Saluccio i Pro-Am-klassen, hvor også Insight Racings danske duo deltager. - Vi besluttede i sidste sekund at deltage i Blancpain Endurance Series på Monza, og at køre race sammen med min ven Uccio er en stor fornøjelse, siger Valentino Rossi i en pressemeddelelse. Valentino Rossi, der denne weekend skyder MotoGP-sæsonen i gang i Qatar, er ikke ukendt med motorsport på fire hjul. Den populære italiener har tidligere kørt både rally og baneløb samt testet F1. Hele 60 biler er til start i sæsonåbneren, der byder på tretimersløb søndag. It’s one of the only events that really calls for some old-school glamour, and I love seeing designers go all the way. This is definitely an instance of ‘more is more’. Trendspotters have been reporting that 2012 would bring back the sculpted 50s styles dresses that many associate with the Hollywood of old, so I have been looking especially forward to this year’s red carpet event. And I certainly don’t feel disappointed, but in my opinion, Lebanese designer Elie Saab won the show with his sequined gowns, which seemed to dissolve into pastel coloured mists around the bodies they encased. All photos by Getty Images. Favourite dresses at the Oscars:  Milla Jojovich - Elie Saab Jojovich is not an actress who has managed to impress me much. Her rendition of French martyr, Joan of Arc, was absolutely horrid. However, she looks breathtaking in this white dream.   Bérénice Bejo - Elie Saab The star of “The Artist”, Bérénice Bejo, was wearing a pastel green semi sheer sequin dress. Not an easy thing to pull off, but Bejo’s deep, golden tan went well with the green. To be honest, though, after having seen her in “The Artist”, I am extremely enchanted by her perky, bright demeanor. I might be biased.   Guiliana Rancic - Tony Ward So here it is: The kind of Hollywood glamour I was looking for. An absolute piece of art in its own right, but also flattering, this dress is my favourite of this year.   Rooney Mara - Givenchy Do I smell a style icon on the rise? Rooney Mara starred in the American remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo. I had no intention of watching it, but I might just do it anyway, because she’s in it. She looks stunning in this Givenchy, which appears a little 1930s vintage, yet entirely 2012.   Busy Phillips - Dolce & Gabbana Just as lace have been appearing everywhere from the catwalk to high street shops like H&M and Vero Moda, it’s also on the red carpet this year. This Dolce & Gabbana is simple, yet elegant, and flatters the shape of the actress’ body.   And now to the – erm – not so favourite dresses… “Everyone’s a critic”, I know. The dresses you see at the Oscar’s are so expensive and so well-made, it can only be a matter of taste which ones you like and which ones you don’t. These three are made by well-respected desginers. I don’t doubt that they could have looked spectacular under the right circumstances, but in the glaring spotlight, on people who are famous for their fame rather than their beauty, well… It didn’t work for me. Livia Firth - Valentino If I were Livia, I’d be livid with Valentino for styling me in this dress. Her bossom looks flaccid in the balcony-like bodice. Her thin, pixie-like frame should have been shown off, but instead she is hidden in a cloud of fabric.   Ellie Kemper - Armani Prive The pattern of this dress makes me think of an old heap of compost. What is that on Kemper’s left hip? Is it an earthworm, perchance? The bangs derserve a mention too: Not an easy look. She doesn’t pull it off.   Shailene Woodley - Valentino Couture For some reason Valentino Couture had chosen to dress poor Ms Woodley in something that looks like Princess Leia’s dressing gown. From where I’m sitting, the fabric looks like felt. It’s anything but glamorous, and just doesn’t belong on the red carpet. I parfumeverdenen har rosen har altid været i fokus. I 1921 – femten år efter, at Armand Petitjean lancerede sin rosentrilogi med Lancôme som afsender (læs mere nedenfor) revolutionerede Coco Chanel parfumeverdenen med sin duftklassiker Chanel no. 5. Den var baseret på syntetiske aldehyder og majrose, der lyder navnet, fordi den kun blomstrer tre uger i maj og har en helt særlig duft, der breder sig i hele Grasse i Sydfrankrig, det eneste sted i verden, hvor den findes (læs mere her). Kort tid efter blev en anden duftklassiker Joy lanceret som verdens dyreste parfume, med ikke mindre end 28 dusin roser pr. flakon. På den mere moderne side har Valentino netop lanceret en ny duft, prydet med de tre blomsteremblemer, der også kendetegner husets couture. Selvfølgelig er rosen blandt dem.
